Well, where do I start?- I read the reviews and took a chance so I guess I've only myself to blame!
Tossa De Mar is a lovely little town and the location of the Tossa Beach/Centre is good, the hotel is also clean but that is where it ends.
This hotel needs some serious attention-
Noise/Room- by far the noisiest hotel ever. We were above the music room/bar - the booming music finished at half 11 each night and tables were dragged around till well past midnight and again from 7am all day. We went to sleep on the packed beach, it's quieter, also the beds are really uncomfortable- it's truly exhausting.
Food/Drink-The only place we liked to sit and have a drink was outside at the Tossa Beach Hotel, but they packed all the chairs away at half ten every night and moved us inside- so as not to disturb guests in rooms above even though there was no music here and it was an hour earlier than the music finished in the room below us? Really random and does not make any sense whatsoever.
No decent coffee, no rose wine and all drinks served in a plastic cup- nice touch!! The female bar staff (mostly eastern european I think) seemed really nice, but I do feel sorry for them working in such a depressing hole.
It took me nearly a week to understand that the guy standing on guard in the doorway to the "restaurant" aka basement sweatbox/room of doom, is not a Maitre D, he is security- yes security! to ensure no-one takes anything out to consume elsewhere, even within the hotel.There are posters everywhere telling you "the rules". Dessert choices are fruit and slop- pink, green or brown.
Meal times v strict and breakfast- only decent meal of the whole day- ends at 9.45am- sharp!
Extra's- the extras you have to pay for are well documented on other reviews, although you may need a receipt for a receipt- if you want your deposit back for the safe and only give them the safe key back (what you have actually paid for) you will be in big trouble if you don't have the receipt as well as the key- they refuse to give you the deposit back as they say they have no way of tracing the deposit you gave them!...................errrr how about the room number or your own paperwork or even the fact you have the key back that you had the deposit for in the first place.
Make sure you get a receipt for the deposit as this seems more valuable to them than the actual key!
Parking- We drove up to Tossa following a weeks stay near Barcelona, reception said there was no car park but I saw Spanish guests arriving and being shown to an underground car park! On further investigation I could see that there were many spaces down there but receptionist said there was no room for us so we parked elsewhere, which was not easy as parking is a real issue.
As you may have gathered from the above I would never stay in this hotel again- guests are treated with total contempt and it was like being back at school- lesson well and truly learned!!!
