“FRIENDLY”

Friendly, helpful, basic but clean. Little noisy outside. Fine for a short stay, Breakfast fine, bed comfortable. Could do with freshening up a little, but would stay again for a few days.
convenient situation

Stayed at the Hotel Tonet in October 2013, a lovely family run Hotel, made to feel welcome straight away.
The Hotel is a 1 star rating, however do not be put off by this, if you want a family run, very authentic spanish charatcer hotel, this is the one for you. Had a balcony room over looking the square with Church. Lovely view.
3 minute walk to the beach, very close to all restaurants.
Stayed bed & breakfast £17 per night. Breakfast is basic but adequate, cereals, coffee, tea, toast, croissants, cheese and ham.

It was excatly what we were looking for a hotel with character, not a big faceless chain hotel.

Room Tip: Room 101, first floor with balcony overlooking the church square - Brilliant.

wonderful location in the church square. We had a room, without a balcony but overlooking the square and it was lovely in the evening to open the windows right up, draw the blinds and sit at our table with a drink and take in the ambience. We were not bothered by the bells as it was quite nice to get a time check every hour. Rooms are basic as you would expect from a one star but are clean and towels were changed daily. Breakfast is served between 9 and 10 am only, although personally I would have liked it to be open at say 8.30. Breakfast consists of tea, coffee and then either croissants and jam, choice of two cereals, fresh rolls and plates of tomatoes, cheese and hams, boiled eggs and some slices of omelette. I think there are some areas for improvement here though. Firstly there was no butter only margarine which I detest and also it would have been nice to have some fresh fruit and yoghurt as after a few days I was becoming a little bored with the same old thing.
The hotel bar and outside terrace is also very popular with the locals which is a good sign and there are lots of old black and white photos of Tossa and film stars (Ava Gardner and James Mason made a film set in Tossa in the 1950's).
I am also very fussy about the mattress on my bed and I think that perhaps it is time to change the one in our room although others in other rooms may have been ok for all I know.
If you want a hotel that is in the old town, near the beach and on a budget then this could fit the bill

This is a 1 star rated hotel but don't be put off. The rooms are basic and dated but clean. Breakfast is served between 9-10 only. Get there early or you'll get little choice which is basic but adequate. The hotel is opposite the Church so expect a lot of bell ringing at weekends calling people to mass. The rest of the day it tolls on the hour but not at night. The family who run it are very friendly and helpful. The bar is frequented by locals and as a result is cheaper than the more touristy bars. There were no other British people staying when we were there, mostly Spanish and French who don't care how much noise they make, or how loudly they converse. It has a lovely roof terrace that gets the sun all day (if you move around) but the beach is only a couple of minutes walk away. On the whole, for the cost, this is a very good hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor have easy access to the roof terrace.

Very hot, very small room and noisy. It is true that this is a family-run hotel and that is why we chose it, but we did not sleep well at all. The room was a sauna and we could not sleep due to the regular slamming of doors, talking loudly and knocking noises every couple of hours during the night. It you are a deep sleeper and don't mind sweating all night, then yes, you can get a small slice of authentic Spain. The owners were pleasant but not particularly welcoming (average) and look after the hotel well, but nothing to write home about and the deco is rather jaded (which would not be an issue if it was nice deco and it was quiet / not too hot).

Room Tip: perhaps at front with windows that open to air! but then you'd have to deal with noise as well...

Very compact room (no air con). Room above bar (mid July) was very noisy on a Saturday night.

Friendly family run authentic Spanish hotel. No pool. Central location surrounded by tapas bars.

New room tax payable locally was €7 for our stay of 8 nights.

Church bells opposite did not disturb us at all.

Nice roof terrace.

Continental breakfast consisted of slices of omelette, ham and cheese etc. Toast and jam/marmalade. Various cakes and breads. Cereals. Various flavour teas.

Room Tip: There are 2 rooms with a balcony, but from what I could see they had as much sun as our little room.

My husband and I booked this hotel because we wanted a small, traditional, family run hotel. We dislike big faceless hotels. We got everything that we wanted and expected. The room that we had was a good size. It didn't have air-con- but even in July this was fine. It is so safe that you can leave your window open while you go out for the day/evening.
The whole hotel is spotlessly clean. The breakfast is ok, cheese, cake , boiled eggs, omlettes, tomatoes, toast, meat. Plenty of it from 9.00-10.00am
The location is perfect. It is in a small square next to the church. There is a seating area where you can people watch. The bar is very cheap, so lots of locals and tourists stop by for a drink. The best rooms are on floor three at teh back as they have a shared balcony. I wouldn't advise one at the front or side as they can be a little noisy (don't let this put you off though- there was a big beach football tournament on when we were there so there were a lot of people passing by) It wasn't very noisy though (and I am very sensitive to noise) Tossa is a lovely place, good food, excellent prices. The location is perfect - 2 mins from the beach. It is very clean and classy. Mainly Spanish,French & Italian people- very few English. It you like clean, good value, family run this is for you. If you like modern and faceless this is not for you! We will definately go again,Enjoy.

Room Tip: 3rd floor at the back has a big shared balcony and is very quiet.
