A group of us stayed for a week in October 2006 and were impressed by the very friendly, efficient and helpful staff.

Our room on the sixth floor was excellent.

The buffet style restaurant was a bit crowded but a good variety of food over the week.

As the hotel catered for a wide variety of nationalities they made an attempt to appeal to all and this was not an exclusively british style hotel ( not that we wanted that)

We would definitely stay here again

As a town Monte Gordo is blessed with an excellent beach and a wide variety of shops . The market in Vila Real de San Antonio( 2 miles East) on a Sunday is a really colourful and a not to be missed experience

Having read previous reviews we were very disappointed. We arrived just after 2pm and were told to come back later as our room was not yet ready. No offer of a drink or anything. We returned an hour later and was given the key to our room. When we got there it had not been cleaned since the previous occupant. I told the recetionist of the problem, she offered to give us another room straight away, but it would be a 'down grade'. I declined this. She then managed to find a room of the same grade we had booked.
The resaurant was too small for the number of guest with insufficient seating. The meals were buffet type and there was not enough space around the serrving area. The breakfast was described as 'American', it was not. The evening meal consisted of a soup starter, and a choice ot two main courses, either fish or meat (this was mostly pork).
The hotel was geared up mainly for German and Dutch guests. The sky tv system was in German or Portugese subtitles with only two chanels in English, CNN and Euro Sport.

The hotel has been modernised very nicely and looks very good inside. The room we stayed in was for 3 people and was more than big enough for us and the whole of the hotel was very clean. The staff were very friendly and more than happy to help with any queries we had. The only slight negative would be the evening meals which were very boring and basic so we made the most of the excellent (and cheap) restaurants and bars that MG has to offer. We would highly recommend both the Baia hotel and MG as a resort to anyone if you enjoy a quite and relaxing holiday. We hope to return again soon.

hotel nr beach its clean and the staff are friendly. the food lets the hotel down,not alote of choice and it is boring.this hotel has alote of dutch people staying there. I still had a good time at this hotel
