“great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We stayed over Christmas and I must say for 3 star apartments they were good, the rooms were cleaned every day, and sheets and towels every two days, the staff were very frendly and could'nt do enough to help you. Did't find the beds hard and we slept well, some good places to eat near by and great coffee places all along the sea front, coffe and brandy for 2 euros over looking the sea what value, all in all good value for money.

The Alba is a reasonable hotel ,however beds are hard as nails so dont expect a great nights sleep.situated in a decent part of Monte Gordo with several restaurants and an excellent local coffee place around the corner...try the coffee and toast and watch the locals for abourt 3 euros.
Try the walk to Villareal through the trees as opposed to the main road.,and go to the market there on a Friday night.

Room Tip: go for an upper floor room

Stayed for 2 weeks in mid October. Although we arrived late we were given a warm welcome. I had asked for a high floor apartment and was given one but were also upgraded to a one bedroom instead of a studio. Room was clean and comfortable with climate control, large balcony and modern bathroom. TV had BBC1, ITV1 and CNN in English. Room cleaned every day with fresh towels. Only criticism would be tht the furniture was a bit tired although there is refurbishments going on. Brekfast was 4.5 euros and well worth it. Nice swimming pool and lounge although no one used the bar. Resort nice and flat with a fine sand beach which is very large. Prices are very inexpensive and you would pay no more than 2 euros for a large beer and bike hire was only 5 euros a day. Great bar near by called Club 80 run by Geronimo, 'call me Jerry'. Worth trecking to the railway Station to visit places along the coast. Timetable downloadable from the internet.

The hotel is well located, it's close to the beach, restaurants and shops. Near there is a bus stop and 1,5 km a railway station. The rooms are clean and comfortable. In the small kitchenette you'll find everything you need. Swimming pool is small but clean. There is no free wi-fi, and the Internet is quite expensive - 10 euro per day. During the first week of September it wasn't easy to park a car near the hotel. There were some mosquiots so taking a repelent is a good idea.

The Alba is up near the bus stop tor Eva buses and we caught one from Faro. The hotel is very comfotable, very cleanand has good airconditioning. Our room had a large bed, table and chairs and a fully equipped kitchenette-fridge, microwave and cooktop, crockery etc.
They have a medium size pool with a number of sun lounges never enough as evrywhere else. It is about 4 minutes walk from the beach, with restaurants and a supermarket nearby. There is a bigger supermarket and Friday market in Vila real. There is local bike hire or a bus into Vila. A ferry trip to Ayamonte ( under 2 euros each way) is worth the trip.
The only downside is everything is an extra-Wifi and security and quite expensive.
