WHile on holidays in the area, we were looking for something to keep the kids busy on a cloudy day (no beach day). We know the area very well as my family leaves not so far from alcobaca. However we had never heard of parque dos monges. We decided to give it a try. It was quite a success. It a park with a lake and a few animals enclosures. We took the orientation option where they give you a map with some signs to find in the park which really pleased the kids. We also did some canoing and tried the bow and arrows. Things we did not try as the kids were not keen (too young) were the climbing wall and the "slide" (you throw yourself from a toward with a harness and slide along a rope).
We had lunch there but they only serve some basics like pizza, sandwiches, soup etc. It was just ok.
I would advise to go on a cloudy day or when its not too hot as you need to wlak around to enjoy it and there was not much shade.
On the downside, we could feel things were not quite well organised yet. It would be good for example to have a schedule of teh activities as we only managed to do the bow and arrows because we asked if it was closed (they actually had set times), we also seem to have missed a show and saw a coach load of people coming out of it at the end! There was a water activity a bit like fishing games which seemed closed as well.
So overall, a good day out with the kids, and some things to adjust.
