“Superb location for a Rallervegen stopover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2010

The rooms are adequate with no frills and after biking the Rallervegen trail they provided all that was needed.

The food was very good, albeit there was only a small choice (fish or meat) to choose from. The veg and deserts were fine and the breakfast too was good enough.

I would recommend the hotel to anyone doing the Rallervegen bike ride and with it being 30km from Finse, 21km from Flam it’s ideally located for a mid-point resting place. There is a swimming pool (outdoor) but we were all too tired to use it.

My children (12,14) and I liked this charming hotel near Myrdal. Yes it is a little bit old fashioned but the room was OK and the view was nice. Meals (dinner buffet and breakfast) were very good. Value for money was very good too (to Norwegian standards, and I got a 50% discount for both children).

We did arrive in Myrdal and walked 1.5km to the hotel. You can also take the Flams banen. In the afternoon we walked along the lake near the hotel. Excellent view over the lake and mountains. (see photos)

The next day we walked (down hill) to Blomheller and took the train back to the hotel to pick up our lugage. That was a good decission. During the 3 hour walk we enjoyed the views and the waterfalls and even in August there were hardly any other tourists. The same trip with the famous Flamsbanen was a dissappointment: 600 tourist in a train, many tunnels and a lot of noise.

The hotel is an excellent place to stay for one or two nights if you like hiking or if you are cycling the famous Rallarvegen.

This a small hotel near Myrdal. It was a famous hotel for taking medical treatments, burnt down in the war, rebuilt again, arguably it's had its hay day.

I choose this hotel to break the train journey from Oslo before taking the famous and fabulous Falm railway. The disadvantage is that to get to it, you must take the Flam train to it's first stop, less than 5 minutes from Myrdal station, or walk for 1km. (Consider the cost of the Norwegian railways). One of the main revenues for this small hotel is as a tourist stop for afternoon teas in the afternoon.

I booked a double room, but when I arrived the room had only twin beds, much to my other half's dismay, but told there were no other rooms available. After another 'enquiry', they gave us another room upstairs which had a double bed and some cooking facilities (which we did not need or use).

The hotel is quite charming in an old fashioned way, probably needs a little redcecoration. Dinner is included in the package, so hopefully you will like it as there is no choice.

There is no much to do here besides a walk nearby. Although the staff were nice, I think it was a little expensive and inconvenient and would not recommend it unless you like hiking.
