“Nice hotel, good experience but dont expect sea views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

We spent 4 nights in the domaine du mirage with my husband and little baby. The room was clean and comfortable as it was shown in booking.com pictures, however I found spiderweb in the balcony. The only thing it was really disapointing was the view. We expect to have a lovely sea view (as shown in booking.com!) but it wasn't the case. There are lots of trees and plants that have grown and they block the view.

We had two lovely days at this hotel! The terrace was a very nice place to eat, although we preferred the large balcony outside our own room as there were so many people by the pool area just beside the terrace.
Fortunately, the view was fantastic from both these locations, so we had a very nice time just staring down at the glittering sea.
When we were not occupied by the view, however, we walked around the small town Bormes Les Mimosas, just a short trip from the hotel. This was a very pleasant place to go, with a lot of nice restaurants and picturesque old buildings.
However, there is no need to go all the way to Bormes Les Mimosas to get a nice meal. The hotel offers some rather nice dishes to accompany the beautiful view.
The breakfast was, however, rather disappointing. It was not quite fresh, and not a very large selection left when we arrived. Shortly, it was not pleasing when it came to either quality or quantity.
At this point, the staff were very helpful, which made the experience much better.
This is not the place to start if you are in search of a swanky design hotel. However – the views and the wonderful terrace made the place well worth a visit.

Room Tip: The room we had on the top floor had a spacious balcony with a fantastic view, away from the noise o...

This hotel was recommended by the wonderful hostess in Villa Nais. We liked the room when the first time we saw it -- spacious, neat, comfy with a sea view balcony.
Staff are quite helpful and friendly here. The atmosphere at the hotel is quite relaxing. In the morning, we could have breakfast at the outdoor balcony area or indoor dining area. Both areas are quite comfortable.
The last night when we stayed at the hotel, my husband and I ordered wine and drank it in the lobby, checking emails (this is the problem here and I will mention later). As we stayed there quite late, the staff walked over and filled the glass without any charge!! For one moment, I felt like at home!!
When we were checking out, the staff asked how our stay was. My husband mentioned about the instability of wifi in the room. The staff was genuinely apologetic.
Overall, if the internet problem could be fixed, we would give the full rating for this hotel. However, probably it is because we stayed on the third floor, which is far from where the server is, the connection signal was quite weak or none in the room. This is why we had to spend a lot of time in the evening in the lobby checking emails or doing other internet activities.

Very hands off hotel. Receptionists rarely there. Great pool, breakfast area outside front with superb views down to ocean. Positioned on a hill top road - 15 minute walk up into town of Bormes on road without sidwalks and no lights. Best to drive (5 mins). Forget walking to Le Lavandou. 40 minutes. 10 min drive. Beware, season ends 12 Sept, so hotel restaurant closes. Didnt try food but menu was same price as town restaurants, just less choice. Hotel bar drinks 3.50 - 7 Euros and you must find the receptionist to make you the drink which was a little inconvenient. If you are by the pool, they come around 2 times in the day to ask you in you want a drink. Beware, 1 st floor rooms very low and people breakfasting and sitting out on patio can see into your rooms. Also very noisy in morning if you have 1st floor. Ask for 2nd floor. Rooms quiet but cleaner finish at 12 midday so bother you before this to vacate the room each day if you want it cleaned. Cleaning was not good, only make beds and replace towels. Didnt provide a pillow case or replace tissues, toilet paper until we asked. Rooms have basic minibar and safe and air con good -nice touch. Would stay again but you MUST have a car. We were a male gay couple and nobody cared

Room Tip: 2nd floor to avoid diners and people sitting on patio looking into your room and noisy

A curious hotel. Fine location with good - even great - views. Good pool area. Nice rooms. Efficiently run. But in a two week tour of Provence and Roussillon, in four hotels, this was the one we wouldn't go back to. Nothing seriously wrong. But a lack of warmth, engagement, care on the part of the staff that contrasted with other hotels in this grade that we visited. A sense that the place is being run out of habit rather than for the guests or from love of the trade. In this kind of place and at these prices, that matters. A few details: drinks service at the poolside was very intermittent. A coffee served in a badly cracked cup was replaced only reluctantly by the waitress. The beautiful but cool receptionist, asked for information re parking in nearby Bormes, had no clue (read the hotel's own map upside-down). On the plus side, access to Bormes and to Le Lavandou is good, the car parking is handy and the pool area is restful and attractive, as is the outdoor breakfast area. And the restaurant, though lacking atmosphere and excitement, turned out a good meal. If this hotel were a car, it would be a 2.5 litre model with a 1.3litre engine under the bonnet. Nice to look at, underwhelming to use.

I went to Le Domaine du Mirage with my partner and our daughter in August 2011.

Location;

perfect, very close to the beautiful city of Bormes les Mimosa and not far from the very nice beaches from Le Lavandou. The view from the hotel is great also.

The restaurant

NIce food, not too expensive, nice service, always with a smile

The pool

God it's good to have a pool when you want to get away from the hords of tourists at the beach! The pool was clean, not many people so really enjoyed it!

The room

Not too fancy, but very clean and comfottable.

Wifi is available throughout the hotel which in enjoyable

Also we booked on the hotel and we got a room for 120 EUR on discount whereas all the other sites websites were selling the room for 180 EUR...be careful!

Stayed 3 nights at Le Domaine. Small hotel in Provencal style. Pleasant rooms with sea view from balcony. Lovely dining on terrace in the evening. Great spot and Bormes le Pin and Bormes Village are wonderful. Great shops for local food and very calm -especially compared to Cannes/Nice. Toulon nearby but traffic very busy-nearly 2 hours at rush hour.

Le Lavandou beach and sea front nearby.

We ll holiday here again.
