We stayed here on recommendation from the Austrian Tourist Board after asking for a location between Salzburg and Innsbruck on the train line. They directed us to the lovely town of Kufstein which is an hour on the train from Salzburg and Innsbruck either way. We were staying for the Euro 2008 football championships bu wet wanted to see the countryside as well.
Hotel is perfectly located just across the Inn Bridge from the rail station (4 minute walk) , it backs onto the Inn river and the front entrance is locate in the old pretty historic street of Rommerhofgasse. The Hotel's restaurant and Inn is located opposite the hotel and is infact linked by a bridge across Rommerhofgasse from the second floor of the hotel ( Bridge of Sighs style). The restaurant is VERY good - the schnitzels as good as I have tasted throughout Austria.
Staff very friendly, breakfast all that you could need in a buffet. Ask for a river facing room as the views are stunning to the fast flowing Inn and the mountains beyond.
Kufstein is dominated by the imposing fortress (Festung) but do call in at the Tourist Information Shop in the town square and ask for the hiking trails. A nice 2 hour one takes you up th emountain past the ski lift and through a lovel mountain restaurant with magnificent views.
