Emperor's new clothes was the phrase that summed up this hotel. It is really (very) faded glory and I suspect now survives by doing all the corporate / wedding things you can see in the pictures and other posts. If you turn up as a standard paying guest when "a do" is on (as we did) you are left in no doubt that you are a second class citizen. The barman (who is a star) is a great historian and tells you about how the current owners have renovated the place (it sounds as though the Nazi's who used it as a base during the war wrecked it) but despite its wonderful location the "tiredness" is always evident. There is a pretty expensive dining room with OTT flourishes but we were at the table next to the entrance to the kitchen and all we could hear all evening was the commentary of the Inter Milan game. The shuttle service into Frascati is good (not really walkable) and the receptionist's recommendation for dinner in town (when we couldn't eat in the hotel) was very good.
