A lovely family run hotel, located a few kms from the town of Arcos on the edge of a large, freshwater lake – reputedly one of the best fishing lakes in Spain. We stayed in late August with my 12-year old son for a week to sail on the lake. Twin rooms were a reasonable size, with AC that could cope easily with the August heat. The hotel also has a number of bungalows fronting the lake, but we didn’t see inside these. There is a large pool (25m), deep enough for adult swimming, but only open from 12:00 so no early morning swims. The pool is open to non-residents but wasn’t overly crowded even at the weekend. I've never stayed in a cleaner hotel - public areas and rooms were kept immaculately. The English-speaking management were always helpful.
An attractive terrace bar overlooking the lake is the centre of hotel life and popular with locals as well as residents. Food was always good value and generally of good quality, although a few dishes fell short – will I never learn that Spanish lambs are somewhat different from their Welsh cousins? Lunch consisted of a menu of the day and a changing small range of tapas. On the Saturday & Sunday evening a terrace barbeque (18 Euro menu) was enhanced by a quality jazz quartet playing into the small hours.
Only problem was breakfast service – staff were clearly overstretched and the sequence of delivery could be decidedly odd – bread arriving 15 minutes after coffee was not unusual. The management were aware of the issue and said they were considering moving to a buffet system next year.
In summary a great place to spend a quiet, relaxing time in a lovely location, overlooking a pretty lake with the white hill town of Arcos as a backdrop. Would return without a second thought.
