“Kikar Lodge- perfect weekend getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

A beautiful resort with fairly decent and large rooms. The staff is very friendly and warm. Food however is quite an average!
They have all kinds of activities to play, one of the best ones being the flying fox. If you haven't done this before somewhere, please do so as this is one of the best activities. A perfect weekend getaway with family as you can do bonfire, spend time together, play TT, pool, cricket, badminton whatever sport you wish to play.

Disadvantage: no room service or restaurants after 10pm, so carry your own booze if you wish to have those late evenings.

A fun place if you go in group else chances are to get bored the second day itself. A relatively quiet and relaxing resort and they have a spa too :)

Room Tip: The garden facing suites are good and spacious; however even the deluxe rooms are quite big. These a...

Getting there - Easy connectivity was our main reason for choosing Kikar Lodge. Shatabdi from Delhi is a comfy ride. Cabs to Kikar Lodge take 2.5 hours (1500-1800 INR).

Resort - Spacious, neat accommodation and big clean bathrooms too. Warm service. Courteous staff. Comfortable stay. Plenty of greenery, a pond, jungle walks, benches placed all over the property. We are the laid back types - happy with strolling the woods, but we saw people freaking out over the quad bikes & flying fox.

Food - We opted out of the fixed meals plan for two reasons. One, we are frugal eaters. Two, on a vacation we like to sleep in late. Sticking to 10.30 am deadline for breakfast is a punishment. Thanks to Kikar Lodge, they accommodated our request and we ordered breakfast in our room even beyond 11 am to avoid rising early. They served us late lunch too. Indian food was good -the mutton (laal maas) was to die for. Chinese preparations were okay. Desserts were average.

Put off by - the only disgusting element was walking in as our room was being readied and catching the housekeeping staff straightening the used sheets after check out without changing them!!! They only brought in fresh sheets and covers on request. We hung around to ensure they followed the request.

Room Tip: Avoid forest view rooms in winter as they don't get any sun. The cottages on the other side of t...

We were 2 families and the trip turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We did all the adventure activities. Quad Biking is a must to do, Zip Tour is aan essential (enjoyed a lot, though it was a real breathe stealer). Food was avearge, they need to focus more on th quality (poha was half cooked and vadas too hard to eat). Prices were a bit high ( felt that for phulka ws overly priced). Rooms were clean and baathrooms were hygenically kept. unlike i read in other reviews, room service was prompt and staff was helpful. Overall a trip that was fun filled, thanks to all the activites available in house, though we felt we paid a bit higher price. It was different from ther resorts as was located in a forest and extremely peaceful. Punjabi folk music arranged was also nice teamed up with bonafires was a delight in the cold weather. Ous was a deluxe room at the back side, did not had a great view ( i think the management should maintain the lawn area there as they have did for the pool facing rooms). Great effort by the Complete TEAM of KIKAR

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms or forest View (if you like to stay away from the rush)

Thank you for your feedback, i am glad that you enjoyed all our activities at the lodge, we are constantly looking at new activities which would keep our guests occupied and the kids happy. The weather at Kikar, specially during the winter is very harsh on the plants, though we try our level best to upkeep our lawns, nature out smarts us. non the less we will definitely look into this.

I visited the place with my parents,my wife and my daughter. It is situated totally away from the crowded area of any city or suburb and in the very heart of jungle. One cant believe that after passing through the small lanes and muddy roads of a small village one would reach such a splendid spot. I must say that this resort packs some or the other thing for everyone. My parents loved the calm serene surroundings whereas me and my wife loved the quad bike rides to the jungle. My daughter was in the pool twice a day. So its a complete family outing with a share of fun for all. There are so many other activities like zip line tour or the paintball fighting. Let me elaborate that the people handling these activities are very professional and are thoroughly trained. The equipment used was also well maintained as i could clearly see them doing the cleaning everyday. I had opted for the all meals included package. We enjoyed the food there. The variety of food was satisfactory and the taste was also good. Stayed in the garden facing rooms which were a bit off the centre point of the resort but nothing like very far as mentioned in many posts. The pool facing rooms are centrally located but are of a much higher price tag which i felt is not worth spending. The rooms were clean and well equipped. Overall the atmosphere is so relaxing in this lap of nature.
Now the down points. Foremost being the approach road which leads to this place. Now since it is a secluded place away from the crowd one has to be mentally prepared to drive through the small narrow lanes of the village which was ok with me.I would have rather enjoyed it if it was not for the quality of the roads. For me that was the biggest let down. It was not the distance from the Main road but the very bad quality of the road which was a spoil sport. I had planned to travel to surrounding places like naina devi temple and anandpur sahib on each day of my stay. So i had to go many times through the treacherous road trip. One cant even think to travel on these roads once it is dark. A BIG DRAWBACK.
Another thing would be the economy. The prices for the package are a little bit on the higher side. One can expect the place to be booming with visitors if the prices are cut down a little. but i guess that would spoil the fun of the place and the management doesn't want that to happen.
TIPS for future travellers-
1. Please visit the place only when the outside temperature is good since majority of the attractions in this place are outdoors.
2. The fun doubles if you could visit in a group.
3. Opt for all meals included package.
4. Try to reach the resort before sunset
5. Use google maps to navigate to the place as that saves you a lot of time otherwise asking people about the directions.

Dear Sir,
I personally want to thank you for the tips given on your feedback. As we are an off beat destination it is always advisable to reach any destination like ours before sundown. Google maps is a good way to find us and yes the roads through the villages are not in the best condition, but non the less i have been in constant touch with the local authorities and they have promised me that they will do up our approach road very soon..

I look forward to having you and your family back with us soon.

Amarindar Singh

My wife and I recently went for a holiday and stayed in this wonderful jungle resort called Kikar Lodge in Roopnagar, Punjab. The surroundings are heavenly and the facilities amazingly decent. We spent three fantastic days at Kikar Lodge. We have seldom been able to relax in the same manner for years. One can simply laze with a beer by the swimming pool, take a plunge, try the amazingly thrilling zipline (feel what it is like to be Tarzan), or take a jungle trek. We found the staff extremely cooperative and the service prompt.

I spend 2 days at the Kikar Lodge with friends. It was relaxing, combined with adventure for those who wanted it and peaceful.
For the first time I tried the Zip line and did not feel afraid as the monitors were good. I also had a very satisfying massage in the spa. The food was good too. Altogether a satisfying trip.

Room Tip: All rooms are good as far as I can make out. Moreover there doesn't seem to be any difference i...
