I booked the hotel last minute after travelling through Holland, Belgium and France. On arrival my I was shown to my fantastic room and even better bed. Sleep came quickly in a comfortable bed, breakfast was superb, as was the morning swim. It was a pity I could not stay longer, but a lovely hotel in fantastic countryside.

My fiancé took me for a romantic treat here and he had booked an afternoon tea. Wow what a let down. Afternoon tea is one of my favourite treats and have had them all over the place and with such a lovely location and a high price I was expecting something special. I couldn't have been more disappointed. We were sat at a very small table in the reception area of all places, bearing in mind it's the end of December and perishingly cold outside, people come in and out and leaving the door open, how ridiculous. Also being the reception area we had the lovely entertainment of the receptionist, who was talking very loudly to customers and staff. Not good enough really. This was pre booked about three weeks in advance, you think they could of found somewhere a little better than this to seat people.
The table was far too small and we were in arm chairs too far apart so could barely hear each other to talk. The first pot of tea I had was far too week and again nothing special. There was a long delay as there had been problems in the kitchen,it's sandwiches for goodness sake, which when the food did eventually arrive yet more disappointment. The cakes were very tasty but so very small and we had two each, which didn't even amount to a mouthful. I'm not a greedy pig but if I'm paying £40 I expect to be fed something! The sandwiches again were tiny but tasty. One of the scones was delicious the other was a bit over baked.
On leaving we were asked if we wanted a box to take some cakes, that we had not eaten away with us, I still chuckle now thinking about this comment. I know some other reviews had said that they had taken cakes away with them, they must have been dining with mice or had their cakes replenished many times.which we did not.
Unimpressed really there are much nicer and better value afternoon/cream teas out there!

We are not certain why these adverse comments have been withheld for nearly two months. We have many requests for afternoon tea by the fire in the grand hall and teas are always amazingly popular, particularly before Christmas. It is a simple fact that many afternoon tea guests consider the meal so ample that they do ask to take away their surplus cakes and we have had boxes prepared for that sole purpose.

From the moment we arrived, Eastwell manor was above all expectations with the amazing old buidling and the welcome service. It did not dissapoint throughout the two day stay. We had a lovely room in the main house( delux double room), complete with four poster bed, complimentary fruit and sherry. We had a lovely meal in the Pavillion restaurant, where service was good and the food tasty. Breakfast is wonderful in the Manor, servce excellent again, and the food varied and tasty. We didn't have to ask for anything which is a good sign! The pool area in the Pavillion is lovely, very relaxing complete with hydro pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Everything very clean and working well. The grounds are beautiful for a walk. They are a couple of rooms to relax in, and papers are present every day. We felt completely spoilt and a bit like Lord and Lady of the manor for the weekend! Highly recommended! We will be returning.

Room Tip: We liked to be in the main manor house. Having a four poster bed is a treat.

Faultless location service and food....special mention for waiter Jack who made us particularly comfortable. Be careful though if you book Eastwell cottages they are adequate but certainly not luxurious, need updating, The spa was a pleasant surprise and treatments we received were very good, all in all a pleasant stay, would have given five stars if the cottages weren't so tired.

It was our ruby wedding day and we had reserved a dinner-bed & breakfast deal at Eastwell Manor. Though I had booked an ordinary manor suite, we were given the best one they had - the Countess of Middleton (they were pre-warned of our special day) - it was enormous - about 1600 sq ft - the bathroom was as big as the bedroom and the sitting room bigger - with four poster - see all the photos. Good dinner both had scallops - beef - strawberries.

The next day we did not hurry from Eastwell Manor - why not? Breakfast nothing special - and the staff were harassed and it rubbed off.

Room Tip: Ask for the Countess of Middleton if you have a special date.

This reviewer has already received a personal response from the owner in a private email exchange with a fulsome apology that has not been accepted. Our Reception staff divided an account for three couples sharing a cottage equally as requested by one of the couples which were allegedly all friends. After leaving the hotel this reviewer was unhappy with the division of the account which was equal but apparently did not reflect the fact that whilst the others had more expensive drinks this lady only drank water. Friends are friends and we propose to move on and let other reviewers draw their own conclusions. For the record we have not offered any sort of “freebie”.

I booked for my partner and I for one night at Eastwell Manor and on arrival found I had a Cottage Mews all to ourselves rather than just a room which was a nice surprise. The good points for us included the swimming pool, sauna and spa pool which were great, really worth using. The breakfast was really lovely. We didn't eat at the restaurant but would next time based on the breakfast. The bar at the Manor is lovely and preferable to the Pavilion Bar. The heating was generous in the cottage we stayed in, in fact a little too generous and I could not find a way to turn it down but rather that than be freezing. It was great having our own cottage to ourselves with kitchenette area. The Manor and its surrounding scenery is beautiful.

The bad points and I'm being picky, include the steam room which I felt needs updating as it was weak. Sadly one of the bed sheets, covered over with another sheet in the bedroom was dirty with stains which was rather upsetting. The Pavilion Bar felt a little grubby and the steak and brie sandwich ordered there was disappointingly chewy placed in cheap white bread. Though the staff were friendly the table was not cleaned and was clearly in need of a wipe.

Having said that, I would highly recommend Eastwell Manor for a relaxing retreat and excellent swimming pool and sauna etc.

Sorry about the slip in standards in the Pavilion, this is of course being addressed. Delighted you found the cottage so pleasing. There are 1, 2 and 3-bedroom cottages, all wiht en suite facilities and htey make a wonderful base for families and groups of friends.
