I have never visited anywhere with such a sense of calm and peace yet with so much on offer. The Baan Thai, early morning yoga and massages help but this is a place which has a serenity all of its own, surrounded by mountains and bathed in sun. Perhaps it is the suset on the cedar wood buildings, perhaps it is the outstanding food (thanks Jason for teaching me to love creme brûlée but now living in the sure knowledge I will never taste anything like it ever again..), perhaps it is the quality of the welcome from everyone you meet (it is true, you really are part of the family when you stay), perhaps even the dogs, but most likely it is the unique mixture of these and many other small things that build to create a unique holiday destination. The paradox is that you can spend your whole visit doing activites in the saddle, fishing, trekking, shooting and still feel utterly relaxed. Perfect for a family break.

I spent the Labour Day weekend with my children and wife there and it was one of our best family getaways to date. Amazing food prepared by a very talented chef, breathtaking scenery and lots of activities kept us entertained the whole weekend. My children enjoyed the animals and my wife and I enjoyed quiet walks in the forest. There will definitely be a next time.

My wife, son and daughter and I loved this fantastic piece of Canada. I can not articulate the surroundings, service or atmosphere, it was simply the very, very best we have experienced. From minute one to to the very last second, we all felt a part of something VERY special. We were made to feel as though we were a part of the family that is echo valley ranch. The owners have created a unique experience which is led by Alan and fully complimented by the rest of the dedicated crew.
We all felt a strange feeling of loss as we drove off to our next destination, we will return as soon as we possibly can to our newly found spiritual home.

We booked Echo Valley on the strength of the reviews. The reviews mirror our experience. However what is more difficult to share on a review , is the feeling this place gives you. It feels like it's yours , you feel like you are part of a family , but you are still pampered and quietly spoilt by everyone.

Sharon met us at the main lodge and right away, she gave us the best service, we were about to get for three days too.

The food is amazing , Jason is a really great chef. He is a really excellent /meat vegetarian cook - this is unusual.

The accommodation is just right, private and authentic in style. The ranch animals are a pleasure, for me the dogs were an extra treat, befriending and escorting you across the grounds like they are your dogs. The service is unmatched , whatever you need, it's already been thought of.

The thing that was really the most surprising ? Sitting down to eat with a varied bunch of other guests & staff, feeling like a big family of friends but also allowing for privacy and intimacy.

The main house is really outstanding in style. The staff, Sharon and Mark greet you as if you are their friend but also you know they are working constantly to make your experience the best. What a lovely professional couple. The shooting with Darryl was my families favourite, again, a guy who is expert in his field but warm and completely welcoming, very funny .

You can tell so much about a place by the way it treats the staff. These staff must feel so lucky, this must be one of the best places in the world to work. Where else does a top hotel in the world invite it's staff to be at the dinner table with the guests. echo Valley ranch is a genius combination of elements that creates a very special atmosphere.

And on to Alan, the Ops manager- a man who could probably run the country one handed, a charismatic person you will be lucky to sit next to for dinner or breakfast. We had some of our best memories in Alan's company, such an interesting, compassionate person . If you could choose the perfect dinner party, Alan would be my choice. Alan really typifies EVR, understated and quietly complex in the sum of all parts. This place, these people, gave me and my family the most memorable holiday to date.

We had 2 disappointments. We didn't meet the legendary Norm & Nan, the owners and secondly, we couldn't stay for longer.

We never usually return anywhere, there is so much to see in this world. But this place, I cried a few tears when I left, I wasn't ready to say goodbye, it was such a wonderful experience.

We will return to EVR as soon as we can. Sublime, supreme, the best place in this world, feels like home.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lookout Lodge, it is really private & looks out over the Ranch

We did a 3 week road trip to Canada with our two teenage children and had many wonderful experiences. One of the best was without a doubt the days we spent at Echo Valley Lodge. It was a lovely home-from-home with very friendly staff, great food, spectacular views and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! We rode horses, swam, hot-tubbed under the stars, toasted marshmallows by the firepit and enjoyed a fabulous Thai body massage. For the teenagers, the undisputed highlight were the lively and very friendly collie dogs (7 in all) - they provided endless entertainment and there was always 1 or 7 of them to accompany us on one of the wonderful walks. This is a very special place and I can't imagine that many people would think otherwise.

This place is filled with peace and beauty. The rooms are fantastic. I was there with niece and her family--2 kids. They are from New Mexico, but after his visit the kids want to move to Canada. There was lots to keep them busy. The spa treatments are worth the visit by themselves, but one of the very best things about this place is the food. I don't think anyone can find a place with better food. The chef is not only a great cook, but a nice guy. That is one of the really nice things about this place. All the staff has that "family" feeling. And I love the dogs and watching the pigs.

Room Tip: If you have a dog you need to get a cabin, so my niece and family had a cabin and loved it. I have...
