“Hill Top Temple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

Maa Bambleshwari Temple is considerd as a 'Teertha'- Holy Shrine-and a very sacred place- by devotees of Chattisgarh and North Maharashtra. During Navratra (twice in a year) festival, devotees come here in a very very large number. Even otherwise, you will always find the temple full of devotees. A very peaceful place, gives you a devine experience.

You can go up the hill by walking through steps. Easy way is to take a cable car which gives a very beautiful view of the surroundings. This temple is situated on a hill top near the town Dugargarh in the State of Chhatisgarh, India, This town is well connected by rail (Mumbai Howrah rout), road, and Air (Raipur) .

There are good Guest Houses for the devotees run by the temple trust and allotted on first-come-first-served basis. There are good hotels available at Dongargarh city.,

This temple is also visited for Marriage, Mundan, and other important sacred activities. A must visit if you happen to go to Chhatisgarh.

“One of the most reverred Temple of Chhattisgarh and Vidharbha”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

The Temple of Maa Bamleshwari is situated on a hilltop at Dongargarh which is a small town in Chhattisgarh situated on Mumbai-Howrah main line at a distance of 100 kms west of Raipur and 200 kms east of Nagpur. It is just 10 kms away from Maharashtra Border. being situated on the border it has devotees coming from both Chhattisgarh and Vidharbha region of Maharastra making Ma Bamleshwari the most reverred deity of the region. It takes a climb of 1027 well built small steps to reach the Temple at hilltop. Also there is a rope way trolley which takes the devotees to the temple top in 10 minutes. My last visit was in November 2012 with my wife who was here for the 1st time. The temple premises and the steps are nice and clean and well maintained. There are adequate supply of water throuhout the way. There are no annoying beggers nor rude prieists anywhere. A journey to the top gives a pleasant experience even though it may be a bit tiring sometimes. Once you rach the top into the temple , you feel a divine calmness inside. The temple premises in the top gives a 360 degree view od the surrounding hills and jungles. You can relax there for sometime without getting any troubles from the authorities. The Idol of Maa Bamleshwari is great and they allow you to take pictures as well. A 30 minutes stay in the temple gave is immence peace and pleasure. I have visited this place atleast 6 times but will love to go there again and again. Please choose the rope way trolley for the elderly and for those having breathing/walking problems

“Maa bambleshwari temple, Dongargarh - the basic information”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

In November 2011, we visited Maa bambleshwari temple in Dongargarh, Chattissgarh. It is really a nice place to visit high on hills (1600 feet) attracting thousands of devotees every day. The road is really good, four lane National highway, from Nagpur to Dongargarh, 185 km. Just before entering dongargarh, there is a check post of chattissgarh police checking papers of your vehicle but they will only ask for PUC (without which fine is Rs 500). On reaching temple, u can park your vehicle free in shops purchasing Prasad from them. Try to park your vehicle in shops near to starting point of ropeway. Railway station is also near the temple. You can climb the steps (around 1100 in number) to reach the temple or simply take the ropeway. Maximum devotees prefer ropeway so, after reaching dongargarh, first thing you have to do is stand in a queue for tkts. On Sundays & holidays, lot of rush is there. Tickets for ropeway are Rs 80 (VIP tks) & Rs 40 for to-and -fro journey each. There are fewer crowds for VIP tks, so fast darshan occurs. Ropeway consists of 3 cabins only & it takes around 10 minutes for the cabin to go up & then come down. So, after every 10 minutes, ONLY 16 devotees move upward for darshan . There is a lunch time between 1.30 to 2.30 pm for selling tks & the tkt counters are closed after 6pm. After reaching to hilltop by ropeway, one has to climb another 175 steps to reach temple. The stairs are not steep to climb. There is not a big rush inside the temple for darshan as only 16 people’s moves upward at a time by ropeway. Hill top view of temple is just awesome with cool breeze touching you. Photography is prohibited inside the temple premises but peoples keep on taking photos. Below the hills, there is a lake for boating & gardens for making fun & picnic. Overall, the temple is a great place to visit & wishes of many devotees are fulfilled here.
