Good quality hotel, excellent location close to the beautiful marina of Vilamoura, the beach and all local amenities.

Room was very large with a big balcony looking out over the hotel pool and gardens.

Breakfast was great, every possible taste was catered for. The option of being able to eat out on the terrace instead of in the restaurant was nice too.

Third time at this hotel and the dom pedro golf never disappoints. The rooms were spotless, cleaned daily, fresh towels, fully equipped (fridge, hairdryer etc) we even had fresh fruit delivered to our room on the first day which was a good touch. The staff (hi lopes!) were very helpful and friendly, they booked cycle hire for us at reception, and supplied glasses and snacks for a private family celebration. Breakfasts at the d.p are very good, plenty of choice, both hot and cold. The gardens area is fantastic, very spacious and the pools look great although far too cold to try in January! In 'town', be sure to seek out 'cool cod' bar where the welcome and atmosphere were great (happy hours 5-8) and their sister restaurant just around the corner. On the Marina, restaurant "25 anos" serving pizzas, pasta dishes etc at great prices to great quality. Also the bar on the beach (100 metres) serving drinks & snacks at very reasonable prices is the PERFECT place to watch the sun set.

This review is a little late but I guess better late than never...

My family and I travelled to Vilamoura last December for Christmas. Having been to the Algarve for Christmas 4 or 5 times we knew what to expect.
Many of the restaurants were open over the Christmas period, the good ones being an Indian along the main road, just set back from the Marina (I can't remember the name off hand but if anyone needs to know I can probably find out), a chinese in the Marina, near the end and looks modern from the outside and the Navy Bar. The Navy bar was also good for just drinks.
Once we arrived at the Dom Pedro Golf Hotel, we were checked in quickly even though we arrived a lot earlier than the check in time. The rooms are spacious with a large balcony overlooking the casino and the sea.
The only down side was the floor. As it was tiled it was sometimes noisy if the people above had their shoes on.
The bar was lovely and the waiters were very pleasant. We only ate in the restaurant at breakfast which was fine. The evening menu didn't look very inspiring and there were so many other places to eat.
On Christmas Eve we were told there was a gala dinner being held on Christmas afternoon. We didn't have anything planned and as it was free we went along. I thought it was actually going to be quite naff but it was wonderful.
The staff had decorated the conference room with big round tables and decorations like a wedding.
Me and my family were put with 2 other couples (they seemed to put familys with young children with other families with young children) and it was nice meeting some new people.
the food was great, traditional turkey and best of all the drink was free! We were given some champagne to start with and then as much wine or beer as you could drink.
There was music and a great atmosphere.
All in all a wonderful Christmas that I would recommend to anyone.
Well done Dom Pedro Golf.

“A mix of ups and downs”

This hotel is a mix of ups and downs.
The ups are the bright , clean rooms and the welcoming and friendly staff, particularly the reception staff who are very professional and helpful with resort and tourist information.
The downs are that because of the hard tiled floors in the rooms you hear a lot of noise, particularly high heels and furniture movements etc.Sleep is sometimes difficult when others return from the bars in the early hours
Whilst we only booked B&B we did have a few evening meals at the hotel but the menu was not very imaginative - pork or veal 9 out of 14 choices- and the hot breakfast left a lot to be desired
( the bacon looked as if it had been there for a week at least and the scrambled eggs inedible).Cold buffet was very good though.
They are also currently building a new spa and there is some noise during the day, but it will be finished early in 2008.
When the problems are sorted, as I am sure they will be, this hotel will make a good touring base.

“Great Place, Lovely Location, High Standard”

Dom Pedro Golf Resort

The Dom pedro Group have 3 hoyels in Vilamoura. They all seemed nice. this one was good loaction - nice 5 - 10 minute walk to the marina either past the casino or along the beach road. it was cheaper than the hotels nearer the marina and worth saving a few pounds as you dont lose any quality.

There was supermarkets nearby and a few pubs (not noisy atall) and the grounds of the hotel were beautiful and very well tended.

Food pretty good, nice outside eating area.
Marina was lovely, nice place for kids as very flat and can walk easily.

Hotel in sept has handful of kids - presume more in July but cant comment on that. Rooms were lovely - not a fault.

Would return.
