“Arqueological site of a Roman Villa and production facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Very nice and well preserved Roman Villa remains, with a small in site museum. Already the Romans were enjoying Vilamoura beaches. Very curious production facilities of garum, a fish preparation. Definitely deserves a visit!!!!

“Tranquil and fascinating.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We really enjoyed this site. Visitors are allowed to roam freely over much of the site, with more freedom than at other roman sites.

“A perspective of Classical Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Cerro da Vila is a wonderful place for those who have an interest in History or Archaeology, particularly the History of the Roman Empire. It is a very well maintained archaelogical site, with some work still being done, and it makes for a pleasant walk of ~1 hour. The museum is not that big, the Villa is really the main attraction here. The price is quite cheap, only 3€ per adult, and it is located very close to Vilamoura's Marina.

“Interesting look at Roman life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013 via mobile

Bigger than it looks, this Roman Villa offers a great view of Roman times and the part the Romans played in the history of the area. We were greeted on arrival by one of the archaeologists, and could see into the lab where they were still analysing finds from the site. The ruins are well mapped out in the free leaflet and include mosaics and hypercausts, amongst the villa buildings. The museum is quite small but houses many artefacts, many of them lovingly restored. Good value at 3 euros per adult.

“Fascinating glimpse into Roman home life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Extensive floor plans with mosaics and even a swimming pool. There was an olive press and it used to be a port. The signs had good pictures to help you understand what it was like in all its glory
