“Great hotel, but dont book with expedia!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2010

The hotel was amazing. The staff were totally into customer service. Every member of staff smiled and said hello. The room was spotlessly clean. Sat in the very deep bath, watching the huge flat screen tv was great! The hotel looked like something out of vegas, with real bannanas on bananna trees around the pool! The beds are huge! Im six foot four and had loads of leg room. They are so wide you could get lost. Free underground parking for our hire car was a bonus. The ONLY negative worth mentioning about the hotel was that all of the outside pools were FREEZING!! The hotel claimed they were 19c, but even that is way too cold. Every pool is cool when you first get in, however, you never warmed up even after twenty minutes! The breakfasts are to die for. You can get breakfast upt to 11 am, so you can have the lie in! As mentioned it is a very family friendly hotel, so lats of children are around. The pool beds are very close together, but that is a very minor moan. When a hotel is this good, you have to look very hard to find any faults. Felt the marina was a let down, but went to Albufeira for evening entertainment. Some fantastic traditional meals. Albufeira was 18 miles away, but very easy to get to with a hire car. I shoud have booked driect through the hotel, DO NOT BOOK VIA EXPEDIA. Expedia charged us £36 for one small suitcase to take on the plane. The customer service rep of easyjet actually said, "Never book with expedia, this always happends". Did not realise the charge until booking in with easyjet. Could not pay online on easyjet site for luggage as flight was booked through expedia and not easyjet. When challenged at home expedia were horendous with their customer service. No phone number to the customer service, you can only email them!!! Politely told, 'tough'. Never ever use expedia, i will never again. This rant has pulled me away from the hotel - sorry! Back to the Hilton, the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Just book via their website!

Our family enjoyed a lovely stay at the hotel in October. Our rooms had a good size balcony without any special view, but quite pleasant. We had lovely weather, which was just what the doctor ordered. We lay around the pool in a very relaxing atmosphere. Water was freezing, but OK when you got used to it and when you got out. Nearly everything was perfect in this hotel. I actually believe the management believes in continuous improvement. The only things I found not quite perfect were the food, both at Aquarelle, the poolside restaurant, and at breakfast. I have to say that I am comparing these to the very best I have enjoyed, so I say this only because perfection is the goal here. Staff were friendly and efficient thoughout. We had a hire car and parked it in the free underground car park, which was fine. This enabled us to get to beach and restaurants. The best restaurants seem to be a little drive away in Almancil. We did not try the Spa and did not try out all the many resort facilities, but would love to go back and do so.

i stayed in the cascatas apartments in mid october for a week with my 2 children. I was amazed at the quality of the ground floor apartment we stayed in, it was pure quality in every room and it was absolutely spotless. Beds and towels changed daily and the breakfast in the Hilton was delicious. Also the kids club they have is perfect for children of all ages. This hotel has all you need for a nice time away with your family, and its only a few euros in ataxi to the marina. I will definitely be returning.

I'd booked this hotel for our anniversary since they had a special offer running for 4 days and 3 nights. We planned a week long trip in Portugal with my wife's parents ending in Vilamoura, and the purpose was to relax and bum around on the beach. The staff were incredibly warm, polite and efficient. We received room upgrades when w arrived since my wife is a Hilton Honors gold member, and then since the rooms weren't ready on time, they ensured we were able to pick up a complimentary meal at their poolside restaurant - the nice touch being no strings attached.
The hotel was relatively new, so the rooms were in excellent condition. Most are built concentrically around the main pools (there are several).

The breakfast was extremely good with a very wide choice - continental, American (it's Hilton after all:-) and English (given the major proportion of tourists I imagine) were all available. Nothing by itself would stand out but everything tasted extremely good and the variety meant one could eat totally different breakfasts each day.

Probably the major highlight was the huge spa, which we had access to as HHonors Gold - it had a massive complex of rooms, with a wide variety of treatments and a bunch of simulations and a massive jaccuzzi which are complimentary.

The hotel had a nice pool table just off the main lobby where we spent some time - was never crowded, though we did go after peak season.

Location-wise, the hotel is a short drive (30 minutes or less) from Faro airport which is one of the main ones serving the Algarve. The hotel is not on the beach (most hotels in Vilamoura are on the marina, the beach itself is not really populated) but has a regular shutle that drives guests to it, where they have a private space.

The town of Vilamoura is really pretty with a lively marina with restaurants and some shops. It was a 20-25 minute walk from the hotel, or a short cab ride.

All in all - wonderful staff, a great hotel for relaxation.

Pros: Beautiful pool, awesome SPA, delicious DELICIOUS buffet food, beautiful clean rooms, great service

cons: Not close to downtown, shuttle services to downtown end early, bar downstairs was packed with families (??)

overall - beautiful hotel, would definitely stay there again and recommended!

Stayed for 7 nights in a 1 bed apartment. Excellent accomodation spotlessly clean and with a very well equipped kitchen including a washer/dryer. Pool was excellent with plenty of sun loungers at any time of day. Excellent breakfast buffet - cooked to order omelettes fantastic. Food in the bar was good but menu a bit limited. Evening buffett a bit overpriced at 29 euro. Overall a fantastic resort hotel with super staff and superb facilities - we shall return.
