Have used these apartments before this time we opted for a 2 bed apt this was above the restaurant and had views of the pool area.the apt was very spacious with 2 bathrooms 1 for each bed room, the bedrooms1double and 1 twin had very comfy beds.the living area was massive this had a large settee which also doubled as a double sofa bed.the apt decor was a bit dated but not too bad.we used the pool which was very cold.ate in the restaurant once recommend stone steak. We had a few drinks in the Topazio bar down the road we found this cheaper and more social than the bar at the rio.
overall we had a great time here and would recommend this to friends and
Family .

Brilliant!! We read reviews but decided to make our own minds up, we were overlooking the pool on the 2nd floor, the apartment was exceptionally clean and had all facilities needed, reception staff were very friendly, although take a mobile with you as reception is not always manned so you have to ring a number, it is quite a walk to the beach and marina although it is a pleasant one but does take about 25 minutes, I read other reviews stating the furniture is dated? Not sure what they expect? Maybe full on Ikea!! The furniture is fine, clean and sturdy and for the price you will be hard pressed to find better value! The towels and beding were changed 3 times in the week that we were there.

Room Tip: We were in room 215 and in november the sun does not get to the balcony until afternoon and is only...

we have returned from a 3 day break at the rio, the aparments are lovely and spacious for the price we paid, fully equiped kitchen, although we only used the kettle, as we ate out. we didnt use the pool as the water was freezing, the hotel is very quiet at this time of year, but this didnt bother us. the only downside to this hotel is the location, other reviwers say its a 15 minute walk from the marina, this is more like a half hour walk!!! we walked the first day to try to get our bearings, it look us almost an hour to find the marina, we walked bck and decided not walk anymore and relied on taxis, which only cost 4 to 5 euros each way. vilamoura itself is in one word stunning, its like a millionaires paradise, although this time of year it is very quiet, again this didnt bother us, the weather was about 22-23 degrees which for november is very good. this was our first trip to portugal and we enjoyed it so much wwe have booked to go back in 4 days time for the weekend

Went here end of October so the hotel was fairly quiet, we got a cheap last minute deal and we got pretty much what we were expecting for the price. The hotel is very basic but clean. We had a studio apartment so we had twin beds (which are hard and uncomfortable) a separate bathroom and kitchen. the kitchens have the basic equipment you need but severely lacks sockets. The reception staff were helpful, polite and friendly. The main downfall of this hotel is the people who run the bar and restaurant, they were rude, bad tempered and seemed to grudge serving anyone. They claim to serve all day, not the case most morning the came in after 09:00 am and the chef seem to come and go as it suited her, so there were quite a few times people were unable to order any food. The hotel is located a good 10 to 15 minute walk from the town. There is a couple of cafes and restaurants near the hotel, there is also a small supermarket which has the basics that you need. If you are looking for a clean but basic base then this hotel is ideal, if you are the type of person who spends a lot of time around the pool or the hotel area then you may find it disappointing as apart from the bar and the small pool there is little to do at the hotel. Vilamoura is a very pretty town and the main area being the marina. Eating and drinking in the main part of the town can be expensive. If you venture up behind the marina you will find a number of restaurants and pubs which offer better value for money. While there we went to the Champions Bar ( http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g227947-d4973555-r183583137-Champions_Bar-Vilamoura_Faro_District_Algarve.html ) which is owned by a fantastic young couple who will offer you a very warm and friendly welcome. we also ate at Natraj indian restaurant, the food was fantastic and reasonably priced and the service was great. Grogan's Irish Bar is worth a visit for it full Irish breakfast which is around 7 Euros but when I had this I did not need to eat the rest of the day, it was filling and scrummy. Figo 7's is on the marina but offer more reasonably priced food and the service is also friendly. It is worth a walk into the next town which has an array of shops and is a lot larger .

I got a last minute bargain , I read a few good and bad reviews. I can honestly say this is a lovely hotel in a great location. Ok it is a bit dated but it's clean and spacious and you get what you pay for. We had a microwave a four ring gas cooker an iron and ironing board a great view of the pool. In my opinion I would recommend it to anyone. If you want 5* quality then you have to pay for it, some people just moan about anything, your on holiday, not to sit in your room all day. So if you can get a good deal at the Rio then go for it and have a happy holiday

Room Tip: room 117 overlooking the pool

I got a last minute deal at a bargain price and after reading the reviews i was a bit apprehensive but i was pleasantly surprised our room overlooked the pool it was clean and comfy although it was a wee bit dated and a few cupboards in the kitchen were a bit bit rough around the edges i couldn't really find fault. The bed was really comfortable and i slept so well as it was very peaceful and quiet. The pool area was clean and the receptionist was most helpful. On check out you could just pop your keys through the letterbox which meant you got your room till late afternoon instead of having to check out and waste your day sitting around with your suitcase. I ate in the restaurant a few times and it was always very good food at reasonable price .
I would highly recommend the old village for dinner and drinks its less than 10 minutes walk form the hotel its a lovley area with plenty of choice of restaurants and bars at really good value for money. It took us 25 minutes to walk the marina there was plently of choice for eating and drinking. I would highly recommend booking a tour which takes you to cliff richards vineyard and the algavre shopping mall
