“Ants ants ants”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013 via mobile

I stayed at the Oasis Village apartments with my wife and 18 month old son in August, we had a great holiday in Vilamoura once we got over the initial shock of how dated the apartment was. The apartment was small and I thought there was a secret bedroom until I realised we had to sleep on the sofas. The kitchen was well stocked with implements but the rooms we tatty and in need of TLC and once we were given a sweeping brush after a few days we were able to tidy up a little. After 14 days it did feel like home but it was difficult having no air con especially with a small child. The staff were friendly but it took 7 days of complaints to finally get them to do something about the parade of ants in the bathroom, during this time the cleaners continually put new towles on the ants so they which seemed odd. We requested no poison due to our child and to be fair the manager eventually offered us another apartment but it was on the 3rd floor and after 7 days and a small child I didn't fancy the move so they sealed up the hole. However the ants found another one in the bath and by this time we'd got quite friendly with them! Overall the hotel is a good 25 minute walk from the harbour but its quite a nice path with the family, the pool at the Marbel is ok but we preferred the kids pool at the Pe Da Lago a few minutes away where the owners were really friendly and helpful

We stayed at the Oasis in a 3 bed apartment for just one relaxing day/night before meeting the rest of our group for a girlie holiday. We chose this hotel as it sounded cheap and cheerful although we were slightly concerned after reading other reviews. No need. The hotel really was better than we had hoped. Lovely Thai food, cider on tap and a lovely clean pool area. Our apartment was like a small house with leather sofas, TV, well equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms - not the Ritz but fantastic value for money. Will probably come back with the kids for a cheap holiday next year! :)

When we arrived we had to clean the apartment ourselves. It was so grimy. Pillows must have been there since it opened!!! One morning there was 100s of ants on bathroom floor. We got clean towels every day but never right amount. Sheets were never changed. Apartment was never cleaned other than a poor lick of a mop. It is way out of town and the taxi service is very poor. Never less than half hour wait. When I asked reception to ring another company other than one they used they refused.on arrival we were never given any concept of facilities and it wasn't till 3rd day we discovered we could use the pool in other part of complex. Friends of ours were in another apartment with building work going on from the early hours. Their toilet seat was off and you could literally see through their front door. There was no light up to their second floor apartment. I have stayed in budget accomadation before but never witnessed this level of uncleanliness. There was a lovely Scottish girl in reception during the day that was very pleasant and helpful.

We stayed here for a week at the end of May 2013. Apartments are extremely big and could sleep 6-8 people. There were only 4 of us. We stayed on half board basis, which was adequate and if there was nothing off the set menu you could choose off the a la carte menu and pay the extra which was good. The apartments are a 30 minute walk to the Marina in Vilamoura, which is a nice walk in, however we got a taxi back for between 5-6 euros. There is a supermarket very near. The pool area was very clean and there were plenty of beds for everyone when we were there, but there is grass around the pool if they run out of beds. There is an English lady to help English guests which is a really good idea as she was very helpful. All in all this is very good basic accommodation just outside the marina in Vilamoura.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment on a low floor if you have walking difficulties.

Me and my friends booked Oasis apartments for 3 nights during our stay in Algarve... the apartment has 2 swimming pools on site and sun beds to relax in. Very remote area which we were happy with as it was peaceful and quite away from the busy life. They have restaurant on site (thai place) and bar and breakfast is also available.

Car parking space is brilliant, with secure gates. The reception area provided wifi which you can purchase 5 Euros for 24 hours usage time, which is brilliant (fast internet). They also have a laptop on the side of the reception which can be used for the internet once you have paid for the allowance.

The breakfast was standard (cost is 6 Euros per person) if you havent included this on ur hotel booking. Our apartment had a balcony with 2 beds and 2 sofa beds. One sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable but the other 3 was fine. Clean and spacious, cannot complain for the price we paid. Would probably book a higher standard hotel in my next re-visit closer to the beach, but im happy with what i paid for and what i got in return. Good service all around and well worth the stay!

I took a gamble on booking this hotel and have no regrets, as many people here want to pay less and want 5 star quality. If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful budget hotel, u wont regret it!

Whilst Vilamora is beautiful, I won't be returning to the Oasis Village.

Upon arrival, my room wasn't ready (despite me arriving at 3pm). When I asked the receptionist what I could do until it was ready, he simply shrugged and walked off. When the room was eventually ready, the one designated to me was right next door to where maintenance works were being carried out. There were apparently no other apartments available, I was woken up by the sound of an electric drill and a cement mixer at 7:30 every morning. This would carry on until about 6pm - meaning that I to be out of the apartment all day, it was simply too noisy to go back for lunch.

Awful hotel.

The apartments were clean but very much in need of an upgrade. It was ok for a short period of time but I couldn't possibly stay for a week or a fortnight. Wifi was only scalable in the small reception area and was very limited. Restaurant was ok but quite a limited choice. It was very easy to access Marina though which was about a 10 minute walk away
