We have just returned today after staying a week in the Parque Mourabel complex and can with all honesty say I must have been staying in a different Hotel to the guy from Ireland! I booked this as a surprise holiday for my Husband's 40th on the back of Florida holiday and didnt have much money to play with, and quite frankly I was quite worried about what I would find after reading some the reviews. When we arrived we were allocated an apartment in the Oasis Village across the road from the Mourabel, which concerned me as this is noted as accomodation for 3 people and we had 4. I need not have worried as it was more than big enough. One of the beds in the living room did have the back hanging from it and I went to Reception to advise them of this, called into the bar to get ice cream & when I returned to the room the maintenance man was already there making the repairs! My room was spottlessly clean although it did smell damp in the bedroom every now and again. Cleaners came everyday except Sunday & I never had any cause for concern, then again I keep my hotel room as clean as I would my home, so there wouldnt really be any dirt to speak of. The pool was very clean and closed every evening at 8 & you could see the maintentance man cleaning it out every night. We ate in the Restuarant 4/5 times and the food was lovely. Kids loved it. I have to agree with the comments about the beds, there are not very comfortable. All in all the price for the Hotel is more than reasonable. You have to speak as you find and if you can afford one of the more luxury Hotels go for it, but if you are looking for a reasonable, budget option then I'd have to say this is the place.
Around 300 yards from the Hotel is a small complex of bars, resturants, shops. 3 places that are must tries are resturant A Carpa, it is fab but gets very busy so we booked when we wanted to go. A cafe called Cafe Doris which had full english breakfasts and snacks till mid afternoon & again was really nice, and a pub called Parkys which is a lot nicer than the pub there called Cactus Bar which I found very male orientated & bit rough but the beer was 1 euro a pint & always seemed quite busy.
The Hotel staff will happily call a taxi & the cost to the Marina is 4 euro, the walk to the Marina is about 20 minutes and very straightforward. The Marina in beautiful, but pricey so be warned if eating or drinking there. If there are any lovers of Chinese food, the best by far is the Harbour View, staff are friendly and food is fab.
We have had a lovely weeks holiday and our experience of the Parque Mourabel is cetainly a good one.
