“Nice, refurbished apartment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

This is a nice, no frills complex, with lovely gardens, perfect for an out of season bargain break. In a pleasant quiet area; even though we looked out over the road and reception, it was very quiet with little traffic. There are no rowdy bars or restaurants nearby, just a supermarket 5 mins walk, and some bars/cafes about 10 mins stroll away. We used the little road train (2€ each way), or the free shuttle bus to the beaches and marina/town centre. We walked in a few times, a very nice 20-30 min stroll, mostly along a flat beautifully landscaped path. We felt very safe walking on our own. Our 1 bedroom apartment was really nice, well decorated, with huge sliding patio doors out onto a large balcony with table, chairs and washing rack. Take some pegs, as it always seemed to be windy. We found the beds a little too hard, and the bedroom dark and a bit cramped, so we slept (very well) on the sofa beds, only using the bedroom as a 'dressing room'. We had a small galley kitchen, with large fridge/freezer, hob, oven, grill, toaster, microwave, kettle and teapot. There was sufficient crockery, cutlery and utensils, plus an iron and board. We had air conditioning in the lounge and bedroom, and BBC1, Sky news and Film on 4 on a nice modern telly. We were cleaned, bins emptied and given fresh towels 4 times during our 7 night stay. Sheets were changed once, mid week. We found the staff welcoming and helpful at all times, even when we arrived at 1 AM. We were able to print our return boarding cards for 1€, and staff would book us taxi transfers eg to Albufeira (€12 return). There is a charge for internet, but we didn't need it.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor in the Mourabel, overlooking the quiet road if you want to admire the sunset, o...

Great service and the studio was very clean, spacious and well stocked. Towels changed and floors washed daily, more than expected for the price. Gardens and grounds well maintained. Special thanks to Susan for warm welcome and daily greeting!

Room Tip: We had a ground floor studio which was peaceful, easily accessible and very roomy.

We have been visiting here for about 14 years. Because it's the nearest (only) Hotel to our favourite eating place in Vilamoura, the nearby "A. Carpa" and our favoured watering hole " The Cactus Bar".
The grounds and gardens are very well cared for, the Gardener never stops and is a credit to his craft. For those of us engaged in Property Refurbs, our room 27 was a joy. Next door to the Building Site, the sounds of Whizzers, Kangos, Steelwork was a joy. The Building Team didn't start until 0830, so we were gone during the day, so no problems. The room had plenty of hot water, but no plugs to keep it...The handyman took the closer out of the Bidet as the only way to keep water in the bathroom basin. The cleaners are first class and the rooms are looked after. We love the area and will be back again.

Perfect for a visit to Portugal with excellent customer service and very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is with in walking distance the marina where many shops and an excellent variety of eating establishments can be found. The hotel runs a free bus to the beach and the marina, 3 times a day so it is easy for those not able to walk too far/

Room Tip: ask for air conditioning and bbc tv

We were moved here from another hotel, and were pleasently surprised with it. We stayed in apartment 64 across the road, and it was huge! typical hotel apartment with a full kitchen and fridge freezer. One bedroom with twin beds and a walk in wardobe!! I did notice there was no air con but as we were there during what seemed like monsoon season it didnt make a difference to us, and we were provided with 2 heaters. We ended up with ants (think that was our fault, over heated the rooms and had spilt fizzy juice and didnt see it) but they staff were really nice and gave us a new room with no hassel. This room was no 35 and was above the reception. It must have been newly decorated and was beautiful. Full modern kitchen, although it was quite small it was more than enough.
You could buy the halfboard daily for 11.50 pp which we tried. The breakfast was egg, bacon and beans that was cooked fresh for each person (maybe as it was out of season and very quiet) fresh warm rolls, toast 1 chioce of cereal, oranges and yogart. Not a huge choice but fine enough for us and it was only 4.50. again i think it was served like this because it was so quiet, so i dont know what it would be like during high season as the dining area we used was quite small. We also had an evening meal here and it was a choice of 3 starters 3 mains and either dessert or coffee. I didnt have a started as i didnt like the sound of any but my husband hand the soup and it was quite nice. The mains were hot freshly made and not to bad considering what was paid and remembering its only a 3 star so food can normally be terrible. I wasnt as keen on the choice of food compared to a normal buffet style one but thats because i eat alot of salad and bread on holiday. But saying that, it tasted alot better than normal buffet food and was hot n fresh.
The hotel is a good walk away from the maarina,(maybe 30min stroll) but a bus was put on, and its a flat walk and would be nice if we had had better weather. The marina is lovely and its worth staying here just for that alone (the hotel by the marina are a lot more expensive) and its only about 5/6 euors back in a taxi.
The hotel also has a private taxi for trips further away which was excellent priced and very prompt.
My opinion is its a great hotel for what you pay.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 35 which was newly refurbished to a good standard and pool view
