“amazing hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

I just came back from my second trip to the Tivoli Victoria and once again I was very impressed. The hotel is beautiful, clean and modern, as are the rooms. We had no problems with housekeeping, clean towels were left every day and the room was spotless.

The pool area is beautiful, and if you are up by 9.30-10 there is no problem getting a sunbed. As other reviewers mentioned, there was one day where the pool was shut for a few hours due to a child using the pool as a toilet, but I really don't think the hotel can be blamed for that, I thought it was great that they shut the pool and went to extreme measures to check the water was clean and safe for people to use.

It is a little far from the town, but a taxi is €12 and there are shuttle buses between this Tivoli and the Tivoli marina. Bus times seem to change by year as there were more in 2012 and the only advice I would give is if you are there at the height of the season (first 3 weeks in August) then make sure you get in the queue early to ensure a seat.

The staff are lovely and helpful. My dad had a fall out of the pool one day and badly bruised his leg, and one of the pool bar staff, who was a part time nurse, checked on him every day after that.

It's nice and quiet for sleeping, and the beds are extremely comfortable. The breakfasts are also great with so much choice of foods. I haven't eaten dinner there so cannot comment about that. Lunch by the pool is pricey, however a cheese and ham toasty is around €8 and you get 2 sandwiches with a huge bowl of chips, which we used to share.

I don't really have a bad word to say about the hotel and will definitely be returning again next year.

Just returned from the Tivoli Victoria and had a wonderful time.
The rooms are excellent, very comfortable beds, quiet, modern bathrooms and fabulous body washes and lotions.
The pool beds are so comfortable I nodded off a few times.
The pools are amazing with plenty to choose from.
Breakfast was to a very high standard with queues after 10 so get down early.
Likewise the shuttle buses, while very convenient, get very busy and one night the bus was full and we missed it as we were at end of the queue. Taxis are impossible to get in vilamoura, at least 45 mins wait.
If I had one gripe it was one extremely rude receptionist (black glasses) with a major attitude problem. I queried being charged for coffee as it was not clear anywhere in our room there was a charge for it, she snapped at me saying you pay for coffee in every hotel room. I have stayed in many hotels and when tea and coffee are provided I have never once had to pay for it. The rest of the staff were fantastic, particularly the pool bar staff at lunch.
I would highly recommend this hotel, it is in a beautiful setting, with fabulous facilities.

Just returned from 10days at Tivoli Victoria. This a large, modern hotel, well laid out, with a fantastic vista overlooking the Victoria golf course, the pool area is good, the pool beds are excellent, pool staff very friendly, pool bar menu limited. Hotel rooms are OK, not 5*, housekeeping is certainly not 5*, they constantly forgot to leave new towels and replenish toiletries, you have to pay 2euros for a coffee in the bedroom, the gym is extremely poor, certainly not 5* - 1 treadmill & 1 rowing machine, 2 bikes, 1 multigym, we were charged 16euros to "hire" 2 very old and battered tennis rackets to use on site, you either must have a car or be willing to use the shuttle bus or pay for taxis into the Marina, the hotel ordered us a taxi on day 1, it cost 20euros each way, we then realised we could get our own taxi and it would cost under 10euros each way, bit disappointing when the hotel does that. We were 2 adults & 3 children aged 11-18-22 so we went to the Marina most evenings, the food choice in the hotel is very limited and the bars are really very poor, they have a captive audience on site and let them walk out of the door each night to go and spend their money down at the marina, if the hotel upped the choice of food on site, made the bars a little more appealing and entertaining (don't mean karaoke) then I am sure many people would stay on site and relax, if you want a great outlook (or play golf which we don't) then this hotel is great, if you're willing to stay on site and have a restricted food choice (either very limited & basic bar food or an a la carte restaurant with main course averaging 40euros each) then it is perfect place to relax, if you are planning visiting the marina each night then it is a little too far out perhaps, they could do so much more with the hotel it has real potential but is just not optimising that at present in our opinion

Room Tip: opt for a pool facing room if you can

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights following a stay at lovely villa on the Amondeira golf resort. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms were very nice. We had no problems getting a sunbed which other reviewers had commented on; the pool areas were very nice but was busy. We like other reviewers had a problem with the pool due to a child having an accident - perhaps they should have a swim nappy policy?

The biggest issue I have with the hotel and why I would not visit again was due to the feeling that I was being ripped off. I don't mind paying for decent food and drinks, but everything was expensive and was not of great quality. For example chicken wrap by the pool for £13 but lacked chicken, £32 for an evening buffet which was basically pizza and pasta (think pizza hut), a small coke £3. You also need to consider the flies, in the restaurant which were all over the buffet food - not very appetising. With regards to the shuttle bus don't count on getting into the Marina on an evening, it finishes at 8pm and taxi was £10 each way.

The hotel looks god but doesn't deliver on quality, I was really disappointed.

Just back from 8 night stay, if I was a golfer wow but alas not. The Hotel is lovely and very clean, the rooms are more than adequate, pools big, sunbeds plenty and comfortable. Negatives are that something is missing, the place lacks soul especially after 6pm, even though it has various bars they are empty. 2 days running the pools were closed most of the day as kids had poohed in them, surely some rules should be in place alas no the management informed me its the fathers fault? The bus to town is a nice touch but could be more frequent as the alternate is a good 60 minute walk or at least 12 euro each way taxi fare. Why the maids choose to turn the beds and bring clean towels after 10:30 at night? And why charge 15 euro per day for wifi, or why charge 15 euro for a burger or sandwich by the pool its just unnesecary. I will usually gladly pay the going rate wherever whatever but for quality and did pay here but it doesn't mean I agree, in summary we would return for a short weekend relaxation

Room Tip: All rooms seem to have nice views but the top (3rd) floor obviously has no one walking above you at...

my first comment of this hotel was that everything was spotlessly clean so I therefore can not fault the hotel and commend them for maintaining the hotel so well. It was a very luxurious hotel and beautiful to look at being compartively more modern and appealing than the other tivoli at the marina. The pool staff were very approachable and willing to help and the pool facilities especially sunbeds were of the highest quality.
However, upon arrival you could immediately criticise reception. They appeared rude and obnoxious and efficieny certainly wasn't there high point as receiving their service took a fair amout of time. When asking for services from reception they seemed very arrogant and unwilling too help. which in a 5* hotel shouldn't be the case.
Another criticism of the hotel is that at 10.30 pm they were still running turn down services, so if you were trying to have an early night, you were disrupted and one night at 11pm all we could here was banging and moving of furniture as the maid was cleaning the room next door, this was simply inapropriate.
The hotel was quite frankly in the middle of no where, a minimum 10euro taxi drive to the marina which obviously gets quite expensive. Although they ran a shuttle bus this was not near frequent enough in comparison to the Hilton which was half the distance to the marina and they had frequent transfers.
The hotel also took advantage of the hotel being in the middle of no where by charging ludicrously high prices, although this is expected in 5* resorts they took this to the extreme in price discriminating as quite simply you had no place else to get lunch or drinks as the nearest bars and restaraunts were at the marina.
Another criticism of this hotel was that there was no adults pool which was particularly problematic. A few times during a visit both main pools were closed off during children having, 'uh-oh issues' which is simply not acceptable. They should have an adults only pool so if this accidents do happen adults have some place to go and cool off. when we suggested this to reception yet again she very abruptly told us it wasn't their faults it was the parents, which although true, you would expect them to consider criticisims as most 5* resorts usually have a designated adults session.
All in all, my stay was very relaxing and revitalsing, however the hotel did manage to irritate me at times, especially with the pool situations.

I stayed at this hotel on bed and breakfast for a week in June 2013. It is a 5 star hotel and in my opinion lives up to this status.I really enjoyed my breakfast every morning where you can either sit inside or out on the patio.

My room number was 120 which overlooked the swimming pool and Victoria Golf Course. The room was fabulous with a walk in shower and a separate bath. It also had a large flat screen TV, mini bar and coffee maker. The bed was extremely comfortable and I enjoyed a great nights sleep every night. The room also had a large balcony with a luxurious sun bed. The swimming pool also boasts the best sun beds I have every used in my life. There is also a poolside bar and the staff are very attentive. Similarly, the house maids are pleasant and my room was always made up by the time I returned to it.

Although the hotel is located outside Vilamoura, it does provide a courtesy shuttle bus to/from Vilamoura Marina around 4 times a day. Seem to recall that the last bus left Vilamoura Marina around 11pm. Just ask reception for a note of the timetable. You can walk into Vilamoura but it will take you around 20-25 mins. The paths are flat so it is an easy walk.

There is a spa located on the top floor of the hotel and you can gain free access to the web in a room just across from the reception. If you play golf, why not hit balls on the range at the Vicoria Golf Course. As a hotel guest you are given free range balls. You can hire clubs to use at the range for about 5 euros.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. I know that I will return to the hotel in the future.
