The Ice Palace comes highly recommended by the crew aboard the Hurtigruten steamer. Admission was 95NOK or about $17 USDollars. The location is a large warehouse quite close to Hurtigruten pier and easy to find. We visited because we thought this place might have a similar feel to the Ice Hotel in Kirkenes, which was closed for the season when we visited in May. They are not even close.
The warehouse is kept at below zero temperatures, so use the parka provided or dress warm. It is dark inside so the lighting of the ice sculptures will show up. The walkways are flat and smooth and large enough for wheelchairs, but watch your step. Photos are encouraged and no flash is needed. Some of the sculptures were large enough to walk through and were well done but not special.
There is an Ice Bar where drinks are served in an ice goblet, but the prices are quite high so we did not partake.
One enters into a gift shop, but most of the souvenirs are typical toursity offerings.
No disappointed exactly but not worth a return visit.
