“Very friendly welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

We stayed for 3 nights and were very impressed by the genuine and helpful staff throughout our stay. Very comfortable beds, we did have some external building noise from the apartments across the site which disturbed us early morning. Rooms are large and well equipped. Excellent breakfasts with a good continental choice served to the table. Lunch and dinner were also beautifully presented and exceedingly delicious. Apart from the building noise we had an excellent stay here.

Room Tip: A room at the back of the hotel may avoid the noise outside.

T Was my brother in law from the UK who gave me his Bongo voucher. For him only one night was too short to cut. Cause we had left only march we ended up in the hotel closest to our home town.
It worked out as a big suprise. An eclectid built castle some hundred years old in the Zeister woodlands. Me myself walked after a bisy day from the station through not expected parks to the hotel. My wife came after me by car, narrowly escaped the busy traffic. The hotel was relaxing, me enjoying a cigar in the late day early spring sun. In the night the chef offered us a great dinner, leaving us kind of exhausted high performing beds.

Room Tip: At the west side the best, some rooms bigger and balconied.

Perfectly situated in an urban forest with a train station and bus stop nearby. The rooms spatious, the food in the restaurant a gastronomic experience. The stuff very professional and helpful. Strongly recommend it for couples of all ages, not for families with children. Couleur local at its best

Room Tip: If you like shopping forget it.Need of bus, taxi to get to the nearest city (Zeist) (10 minutes).

The Bilderberg Kasteel near Zeist is a great hotel to base yourself at if you want to visit the Utrecht region of Holland, the main building is more than 100 years old and has fantastic wooden staircases, stained glass windows and the old castle view. However the bedrooms have unfortunately not kept in the character of the castle and are similar to a city hotel room with a very modest bathroom. Even though the bath was a spa bath I would have preferred a seperate shower and not had to climb into a spa bath to have a shower. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff could not have been friendlier.

Room Tip: Choose a room looking over the front of the castle, be aware there are no lifts so if you have heavy...

I facilitated a 3-day meeting for a global team here. The castle itself is not very impressive. I'm at a loss for words to describe the architecture, but let us say Teutonic. It's a bit dark, but there are lovely big fireplaces and comfortable places to relax and eat.

Kerckebosch is located in a extensive wooded area, so I suppose there are some things to do outside. Inside there are no sports facilities.

The rooms are comfortable and the size is good. No prizes for design interiors, but who cares?

The cooking is very good. Great meals every time!

The best is the staff who are genuinely eager to please and to excel at their job.

Room Tip: The rooms in the annex are more modern and larger. The castle rooms naturally have more atmosphere.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2012

Having something to celebrate amoung friends-of-40-years, we stayed at this Bilderberg property, an old very cosy castle, had a dinner and breakfast.
It looked absolutely fabulousd and as we flew in, drove in and even cycled in from all corners of the world, this was going to be a great memorable outing. At arrival we were lodged in rooms, we shared : though not couples, we all received double beds, while the only person alone, had twin beds in the room. We were told that our dinner was served for us in a very cold looking, [nowhere in the brochures or on internet], (breakfast room) "bistro" which looked more like a company cantine. We asked if that could be changed to the other restaurant, which was in real manor style. "They would come back to us" (but never did). So we asked again before we took the aperitif outside. Later at drinks on teh terrace, we were informed our tabel was laid outside (but not asked if we would like that) . Now the Netherlands is not Nice or Rome, so sitting outside can be Chilly (and it was) but we all put on cardigans and dined outside. We only had 3 courses, but that took, longer then the average French Dinner : over 4 hrs (we were 5). When we were all so frozen, and had asked 3 times for the desert, more then an hour after the main course, it finally came (29 minutes after asking for the third time...) : melted ice cream, so a plate with cream dripping off it. It took another 12 minutes and twice requested to get 4 different spoons : a soup-, a serving- and two tea spoons, to be able to eat it, as cutlary seemed also not at hand.. Never any excuse, only : "we know, we know", what some poor girls, not looking like students uttered. We asked the Gentleman who looked like a manager, who had informed us about the table outside what was going on and he just said he was looking after HIS corner of the terrace ( 2 tables of 2) ....We went inside for second coffee's to warm up, but then were again not served, never found any staff so went to bed. Next morning we were served breakfast outside again, which was not bad, but when asking for coffee ; it came with more on the sauces then IN the cup, but that did not seem to bother the staff they just brougt it like that and left it like that without a wimp ( and left us with a giggle as it was becoming too much of a farce). We complained, when at check out, they asked us, if we enjoyed our stay, then the Receptionist, who was profesional gave us a bottel of wine and some discount, but our special outing, that should have been a very precious memory, was spoilt. This is a very beautiful property, it is such a waste it is not managed.

Room Tip: Make sure you are not above the front entrance or above the refuse bins, because of the noise late a...

The location was peacefull, but people banging their room doors at 3AM was a little distracting, but this only happened a couple of nights in 14. Good internet was very expensive, these days I expect it for free in 'not cheap' hotels. Room a little dated, old 17" CRT TV for example, but plenty of hot water when I needed it. Food OK but the bistro menu never seemed to change. Breakfast was novel and quite a pleasant change from the buffet approach, everything brought to your table on a victorian style cake stand.
Very easy to find and good parking.
