We stopped at the hotel’s restaurant for a quick cup of coffee and a snack on an early Sunday afternoon. It was a nice and sunny winter day so the nearby dunes and beach were well visited. Although a number of other people had dropped in for refreshments things were nothing near capacity.

Service was slow enough to require a geological timescale. At least 4 sets of people left in frustration without ever having caught sight of a server. We hung around and made the mistake of ordering and having to wait, wait and then wait some more. A process that took a little over 2 hours. Our server did come out after an interminable wait and as an apology offered us a complimentary drink; a nice gesture under the circumstances.

The food, when it finally came, was pretty good and hot so at least that part they got right.

This used to be a really nice place, serving very good food, but if you want to try them out again, skip sunny afternoons unless you have lots of time to kill.

Room Tip: Don't know about the rooms, we only visited the restaurant but had to wait long enough that we s...

I would not return to this hotel.
We stayed for 2 nights (actually we checked out after the first night). The location is beautiful. That's it.
The reception was a pokey little breakfast bar type bit of wood by some stairs.
The 'communal' area (I guess it was communal as there were quite a few dirty fabric chairs and a TV) off the reception was smelly, worn out and dirty looking...and void of any guests.
The service was dreadful. We had to try find a bell to ring for attention when we arrived, likewise at breakfast, it was like Mr Faulty was doing the cooking, serving, checking guests, the whole lot!
The bedroom....well, what can I say? The bed felt and smelt damp and dirty. i slept fully clothed on top of the bed, and did not use the pillow. There was an old bedside table on one side of the double bed that was from the 60's, and very grimey to touch. There was a VERY small portable tv in the room, no remote. The TV did not work. There was a desk which had the TV on it, at the end of the bed, so navigating between the bed and tv to go to the bathroom was very tricky. The wall paper was spangly like 60's style, but very worn out, dirty and coming away from the walls.
the bathroom had exposed water pipes running everywhere, a very dodgy wobbly toilet which felt like it was going to come away from the floor (the pedestal type). The tiles were olive green, everywhere, and the grout was mouldy. The sink was also stained (as was the toilet), and the bathroom generally smelly foisty and damp as did the whole room. I didn't have a shower on our one night stay as I hadn't brought my flip flops..I didnt want to stand with my bare feet anywhere!
All I can say, is that we had gone to this hotel to celebrate my partner's 40th birthday, you know, a nice romantic weekend, but it turned out dreadful! We checked out the following morning...(and you do not want to bother with their 'breakfast;...get yourself to a nice cafe), and we went and stayed at Kurhaus hotel in Scheveningen, a short drive away. Granted, that hotel is 5 times more expensive, but after the disappointment and desparate need for a wash and comfortable room, we would have paid anything. Definitely a hotel from hell, and they shouldnt even advertise for business. We complained to the manager there and they said they were in the process of refurbishing the hotel. We stayed there 2 years ago, so I came online to see if they had done any improvements. the photos & sales patter is all the same. So be warned guys, there are plenty of other hotels who deserve your money and your stay!

Room Tip: Don't even think of booking a room here!

Nice location, very close to the beach. From the outside it looks nice, but the rooms haven't had an update since the Beatles were together. Breakfast was pretty good, and the staff is friendly.

I guess the Fletcher chain who owns the hotel just doesn't care about the rooms.

Room Tip: The first room that was offered was noisy, we asked for another room that was better, so don't b...

Very outdated. The only advantage is its location. The location is great, close to the beach. There are no other buildings closeby, so very quiet.

Stayed here in May 2011 and all-in-all I was very pleased. I was staying on a business trip but paying for hotels myself and was alone.

The single room I had was small but perfectly adequate; it had a desk, an LCD TV and a great view over the dunes. It was clean, the shower worked really well and was perfect for what I wanted.

The hotel is quite old but seems to have been refurbished; the walls look like they have fresh paint and a clean and bright, the furniture and fittings look a little dated but thats part of the charm.

It is a long way from any where other than the beach unless you have a car which was why I stayed here. I would definitely stay again with my partner.

The good:
Clean, tidy, adequate room
View
Peace and Quiet
Food in the evenings is exceptional
Included breakfast is good
At €79 for the night for one or €99 for two people I did n't think it was unreasonably priced
Parking is free
Bar prices are reasonable

The bad:
Wifi is provided by KPN and so costs €5 for 50 minutes or €15 for the day. You can by a week for €30 or a month for €45 (which you can use with any KPN hotspot not just this hotel)
If you're looking for 5* luxury you will not find it here; the rooms are adequate

All in all I really liked the place.

Some of the other reviews of this Hotel are somewhat less than complementary. The general opinion we were left with was that this hotel has immense potential. The only downside is that its decor and rooms need a serious refurbishment - if that is done well then Fletcher have a fantastic hotel in terms of location, facilities and period style.
