“Another fantastic stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

My family and I had arranged a week's holiday in France, and were driving back to Scotland via Zeebrugge. we had taken the family dog with us for the first time, and had to plan to get to a vet before returning. As my French is not that good, and I was too busy to research properly, I decided that I would simply check in to the St Gerlach on the way back, and asked them to arrange a vet visit. They did so, and also suggested that we may want an apartment with a door to the gardens as we were bringing the dog with us.

St Gerlach is a great place to stop off if travelling with dogs - huge grounds to walk them in, as well as having miles of country walks all around the area. Great trip, excellent food, service can be variable, but the place makes you forgive little issues like that.

Oh, and thew vet was excellent - really good guy who sorted our pet's passport for the return to the UK.

The hotel looks absolutely amazing and has somewhat of a majestic feel to it. The rooms are quite large and the beds sleep wonderful. The staff is extremely friendly and will go out of their way to help you and make you feel at home.

The hotel is situated in a quiet village and has plenty of grassland around it to allow you to forget that you are so close to the city of Maastricht. They have regular shuttles to the city, so you can go there and not have to worry about parking your car or driving back after a night out in the town. The hotel also has a great spa, but we chose to go to the Thermae 2000, which is much larger and only a couple of kilometers away.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone as we have had a wonderful short stay there.

Room Tip: We had room 120, which is located at the end of a hallway, so you don't have too many neighbors...

Location superb, historically charming, quality service, and excellent food! My only complaint is that given the "rural" location and having a room on first floor, I found a few spiders (though harmless) and a couple of ants. I think that extra pest control maintenance might be necessary.

They have all the details right. The location is amazing, great scenery, close to Maastricht. You really feel like you're the guest in a rural castle.
The hotels of Camille Oostwegel are designed, styled and groomed to every detail, it's amazing. The rooms are large, comfortable, luxurious and pleasantly furnished.
The hotel is surrounded by a lovely garden and lush fields and vineyards. In these fields biodiversity is preserved, by preserving the ancestors of nowadays fruits and vegetables. The gardens also produce the food for the restaurant. The restaurant is amazing, a lot of flavour, pure ingredients in a very nice setting. Countryside chic. Breakfast is served in a stunning garden patio.
Do stay here if you want to enjoy rural charm in Limburg.

I had room 301 which was a bit cramped due to the low ceiling and limited lighting but for one night it was OK. I wanted a room with air conditioning and only some of their suites have them, so I didn't make an issue of it. The bathroom was spacious though. Breakfast is served at a beautiful venue and the buffet is excellent. Dinner in the gourmet restaurant was similarly excellent; service was very attentive and friendly and the food and presentation met expectations. Service was polite and discreet but not particularly friendly at the hotel itself. The grounds are pretty and the local town is pleasant to walk around. I thought it a bit off-putting that I'd have to rent a bicycle to drive around there and there is no gym at the hotel, but the indoor swimming pool was very nice. They need more English TV channels on their TV system but I understand they are having trouble getting their local cable provider to give them more choices. I wanted a taste of the Netherlands outside of Amsterdam and this foot the bill perfectly. Combined with a day trip to Maastricht, this is an excellent place for a sophisticated tourist to visit for at least a night.

Stayed for two nights as a family of four. We had one of the two bedroom apartments which was perfect for our needs. Most of the ground floor apartments only have one bedroom but there are two of the two beds with their own terraces.

Very comfortable accommodation. A bit old fashioned in style but very, very spacious. All the essentials are provided.

The grounds are beautiful and provide a nice mix of formal and informal places to relax. We liked the sculptures and the fact that although the hotel was full, it did not feel overcrowded. Made use of the pool which was great for families but probably not ideal for couples looking to relax.

Only one downside. Whilst sitting on our terrace having an evening drink, we were amused to see all of the hotel kitchen staff playing a game of football before the restaurant opened. It kind of spoiled the peace but we thought no more of it. Then we went to eat in the Bistro de Liege. We arrived just before 7 pm and ordered immediately on arrival. Despite the fact that there was a kids menu, we waited one hour and twenty minutes before the children were served anything to eat. I asked twice if the children could be served first and they said they would talk to the kitchen staff. Such a long wait is no fun for adults but for our two boys it was totally unacceptable. The wait staff were pleasant but we were still charged for the food when it came. Maybe if the kitchen staff had spent more time preparing before they began dinner service, customers would not have had to wait so long. We looked around and noticed that everyone was in the same position.

Would I stay here again? Yes, it's comfortable and relaxing. Would I eat here again? Not on your life!

We stayed in this hotel for a well deserved wellness-weekend. It was absolutely perfect. The suite was fantastic; the breakfast buffet was one of the largest I have ever experienced.
The staff went above and beyond to satisfy our needs and wishes.
The wellness-department was very professional; the massages were heavenly.

The 6-course dinner in the very luxurious restaurant was TOP of the bill! We had a great offer for the dinner, not paying too much for this fantastic meal. Must say, if we had to pay the full price we would have lived on water & bread for the rest of the month.

We would definitally go back here, but we need to save some money first.......The whole weekend costed us just a little under 1000 euro.....
