We stayed at the Courtyard next door. After a day at the Keukenhof Gardens, we were hungry. The only open restaurant in the Claus complex was The Storehouse, sort of a pub.
The menu was limited. We chose the double burger plate with fries. And Heinekens of course. We were disappointed that the drafts were rather small, but the price was not exorbitant (2.50 E) When the waiter arrived with the burgers, we were amazed. Far too large to pick up and eat; way bigger than a mouth could bite into.
Think of a Big Mac, but each patty was a full thick burger. The entire stack was 7 to 8 inches tall. There was lettuce, tomato, a chili sauce on each burger. We decided to pull out the center section of roll but still had problems getting it from the plate to our mouths. The meal also included a paper cone of fries. A very large portion that we could not finish with the burgers.
A disappointment: the waiter did not ask how we would like the meat cooked. OK, that may be an EU requirement that everything be cooked medium. But the burgers were strange; a very uniform brown color all the way through. I prefer medium well and this was a bit more well. Wife prefers bloody rare. This was not to her liking but hunger can overcome certain preferences.
There is a dance floor and great Reggae music played on the video screen. The Storehouse had everything we needed for that evening.
Not exactly my favorite meal of the vacation but a good value.
