“Great hotel let down by dining room staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

Great hotel and reception very helpful at all times especially the tall young gentleman who could never do enough for us (i have forgotten his name!). Unfortunately we found the dining room staff unattentive and generally a bit miserable. We had a couple of meals over the Christmas holiday and ate there every morning at breakfast.
The first evening we booked after arriving on a late flight from the UK. Food was lovely although the staff where very uncommunicative and unfriendly. We however overlooked this as we enjoyed the food so much...the hamburger was cooked to perfection and reasonably priced for hotel food and thought maybe the staff where having an off night even though it wasn't that busy.
We booked for the Boxing night dinner service and when we arrived on that night the dining manager Stephanie informed us that they had no reservation for us. Well we were far from impressed as we had an early flight home in the morning hence why we booked dining in the hotel and not central Amsterdam. Stephanie said that her colleague who had booked the reservation said we needed to clarify the booking with reception and we didn't do that! We were never told to do this as of course we would have done! Why would we ignore that information if we had been told, making things awkward for ourselves?!! Stephanie continued to argue with us stating 'what can I do...i have no table for you!'. We said we wanted to see the manager and she said 'I am the manager'. We said 'no the general manager'. At any one time she did not apologise for the mistake made by her staff and could quite easily had diffused the situation and my anger by saying a simple sorry! She then went off to speak with her colleague and informed us she could possibly fit us in in the next half an hour. And true to her word she did but it kind of left a nasty taste in our mouths and the dining staff where no better in their service and attitude!
Also at breakfast you have to seat yourselves and this caused problems with many large tables of 6 only having 2 people sitting there. I think the waiting staff could economise on this better as when you did find a seat in busy times there was dirty plates etc as not enough staff to clear away efficiently and quickly for the next patrons and having to eat at someones dirty tablecloth. We had to clear away the plates and cutlery ourselves. It spoiled an otherwise pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Confirm your dining requirements with reception to avoid problems with reservations!

We got put here by KLM after we had some itinerary problems. Well, it was a pleasant surprise to stay here for a night. Dinner and Breakfast were included and top notch. The room was spacious, and the beds comfortable. This may not be an ideal hotel if you want to explore Amsterdam due to distance, but if you gotta be close to Schiphol airport this hotel is fantastic.

Absolutely no complaints.

This hotel was ok - mostly because of the price (cheap). It was located very close to the airport.

Nice reception and public areas. Rooms weren't very nice. Old, kind of funky smell and outdated. We had one room with a malfunctioning light. When maintenance arrived, the first thing he said before we explained the problem was, I can't fix that light. If it doesn't turn on you just have to move. And then he didn't have keys or the means to move us.

Also, I have no idea what was going on with the kids at this hotel. I like to think of myself as very kid tolerant, but there was a bounce house in the basement and it brought them over in hordes. Then they took control of the one elevator to play a 4 story game of hide and seek and wouldn't let you on to get to your room with your luggage. Hotel staff should have shut it down - it was out of control. And the noise! Really incredible.

Been to this hotel now 6 times and every time i have really enjoyed it. it is 13 mins from schipol airport to hotel via free shuttle bus. and 7 mins from hotel back to airport then a mere 15 mins on the train to central station for all the coffeeshops which is what i go for. I have stayed in a few hotel in the centre of amsterdam and nothing compares to this hotel. As i am a smoker the main highlight for me is that all rooms have either a balcony or terrace. where as in the centre you would have to pay a considerable amount more for the same standard of hotel.TRUST ME I HAVE BEEN TO AMSTERDAM AROUND 20 TIMES AND STAYED IN MANY HOTELS IN THE CENTRE AND THIS IS THE ONLY HOTEL I HAVE STAYED IN MORE THAN ONCE. there is a kfc and petrol station opposite to buy necessities also a 24/7 burger king opposite which is also very helpful for a weed smoker haha other than that though there isnt anything else nearby so make sure if you want weed to buy plenty before going back to the hotel.
The rooms are very spacious and have a 42 inch tv with bbc1 and a couple of other english channels. the bathrooms are modern and spotless all rooms come with large bath and walk in shower with complimentary shower gel soap and shampoo. i honestly cant say one single thing wrong with this hotel. if i was to say anything it would be just the location due to there being no coffeeshops etc. nearby but trust me i am just being picky this hotel is definately worth the shuttle ride and train to the centre of amsterdam. also beds are very comfy and proper duvets unlike most hotels that just have thin useless things. and they also provide spare pillows in the wardrobe incase you want 2 pillows. Maids cleaned my room everyday and got new towels everyday. Always leave my wallet etc. out when maids are in room and nothing has ever gone missing (unlike other hotels in the centre of amsterdam). so i now dont even use the safe thats how much i trust this hotel Vaery spacious balconys aswell not small and cramped at all. if anyone has anything bad to say about this hotel then in my eyes they are seriously deluded or just people who just have to much time on there hands

Room Tip: any room not on the bottom floor as i prefer my private balcony as the rooms on the bottom have terr...

The room was very clean & tidy.. it just could have been better lighted and more reachable power outlets was needed. The hotel has a near group of restaurants & cafes just across the parking areas, and the shuttle bus from and to the airport was of a great help.

Stayed here with friends in February, we booked this as the hotel looked nice, we didn't realise the distance to the city centre upon booking, it was a 30 minute shuttle bus to the hotel from the airport and around a 45 minute trip to the city centre from hotel, cost us around 80 euros in a taxi after a night out! The hotel itself is very clean though, rooms are decent, we had 2 double beds, a decent size balcony and bathroom. Although on the morning checking out the hotel was covered in police and we was ushered out through a back door as they was investigating a murder on site during the middle of the night!! I recommend stopping closer to the city centre...
