“A 3,5 star hotel?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

Pleasantly located hotel just (5 minute walk) outside the very charming old city center of Bergen op Zoom. We stayed in a Standard Room, which was OK but for the shower, which alternated between very hot and ice cold water. Not exactly what we liked. Breakfast was super with everything you could wish for.
Not a 4 star hotel, but a very good 3 star hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. One side is located near to a bypass around the city, the front side to the pa...

I was here for a one-night stay on business. I arrived on foot from the railway station, about 5-10 minutes wall away, through a snowy town and park. I arrived late and left earlyish in the morning, so didn't really have time to make use of the restaurant or facilities, but I did get upgraded to one of the top-floor suites, which was outstanding. I think this is likely to be my preferred choice for future visits to the area.

Stayed here for 2 nights. We upgraded for € 10 p.p.p.n. to a room on the 5th. floor in the new section. Great view and very modern and luxurious room. Rooms in the older part still have to be refurbished. Wherever you are: the staff is helpful and friendly and those things do not cost anything but make your stay so much more pleasant. Nice sauna and pool facilities were included in our arrangement and also a Garufa Fish treatment for our feet.
We had dinner in the restaurant once and the quality of the food they serve is excellent.
Breakfast is also very good. Walking distance to marina appr. 5 mins. Walking distance to the Market (Town Centre) appr. 10 mins.

Room Tip: If you have booked standard room: try to upgrade to the newer rooms; worth all the money. The rooms...

clean and tidy, but my firms rate of 254 euros for 2 nights did not include breakfast, that's available for another 15 euros, the place smells clean etc, but I do feel that the price s a bit steep and not to include breakfast made sure I will steer clear of this place in the future.

The receiptionist didnt really have much of a clue what she was doing, but then I'm sure as with most hotels the idea is to hire cheap resource so as to maximise profits.

Hotel StadsPark
Gertrudis Boulevard 200
Bergen op Zoom
Netherlands
Part of the Fletcher Hotel Group

There appears to be a new part and old part of this hotel. As we got out the elevator on the 4th floor, we saw really smart doors to rooms, wide passages... really good and really exciting.
Then we saw our room number is the other way !!! Follow the arrows to a dingy long, narrow passage.
So narrow is the passage, that when the housekeeping trolley was standing outside one of the rooms, I had to walk past with my roller case sideways !!!!

The room was big and comfortable. Nice king size bed. The bathroom was small and badly planned.
We went to ask the reception to move us to the newer, smart rooms but we were told that all the rooms in the old part were recently renovated.
Hmmmm... I wonder!! Certainly the passage was not renovated.

Our bathroom had NO towels rails or hooks at all. The bathroom heating did not work.
The bath was also a Jacuzzi… nice surprise. When the Jacuzzi would not work, we called the reception and the young lady came up to the room in flash only to tell us that the Jacuzzi is not connected.
Would you believe that the Jacuzzi motor started to work by itself a few times during the night !!! We were thinking of calling Ghost Busters!!!!

This hotel is too expensive for the value offered to guests.
I understand that the "Wellness" section is the main attraction that makes the rates high.
So if you are NOT into wellness, this is not the place to go ....
By the way, judging from the "wellness menu", and I admit I am no expert on these services, if you are game for these services, bring a fully-loaded credit card !!
There was free internet which was very convenient.

There is good parking out front of the hotel and a convenient driveway to the front doors that allows for offloading suitcases to check-in or loading after check out.

If you don't have a GPS, it's not easy to find the hotel as it's set back, off the main road.

All-in-All, whilst we had no problems at this hotel, we were unimpressed and will not go back again.
As regards Bergen op Zoom.... we needed a chemist on Sunday morning and even with a GPS, we found 3 chemists closed..... quite frustrating!

Remember : A smile and happy hello to the reception team always goes a long way!
Have fun !!

Room Tip: If you take the plunge, don't accept the old section !

This hotel is the best if you are looking to get some sleep away from the noise of the main square. It's about a 15 minute walk to the train station and square. Rent a bike at the front desk and do some exploring of the Dutch countryside and historical Bergen Op Zoom. The restaurant is fantastic.

Really terrible customer service in every possible aspect. Inattentive and unhelpful staff. Even the simplest requests go unheeded. Dinner menu is way overdone for this level of hotel in this location. Breakfast buffet is acceptable.
