“Beautiful room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2014

My sister, my son and I stayed here on the last day of our holidays as it was very convenient as it was so close to the airport. It had a free shuttle bus that you have to catch at the hotel just a little bit up the road. It brings you to the airport and leaves every 20 minutes. The bus does get pretty full fast as it stops at 2 other hotels along the way, but for every 1 person that gets on, 2 get off :) The room was really lovely, the bathroom was laid out lovely also and the shower/bath tub was just great. The shower was very powerful (which is just how i like it), my sister on the other hand thought it was too strong. The room was clean and spacious, even with the extra bed and the beds were very comfortable.
Oh and i should also add, that although it is close to the airport, there is very little noise heard from the planes :)

By booking a hotel near the airport, you never expect much but this one proved to be great. It's a small hotel with personable and helpful staff. The room was lovely, modern, spacious and bright. We had dinner in the italian restaurant downstairs and it was excellent. Go for a walk in the town. Within a kilometer is a windmill/museum, but watch the time, it closes at 4:30 and so we couldn't go in. Instead, we had great fries and Dutch croquettes at the little take out restaurant next to the museum.

Room Tip: Note, there is no elevator but staff will likely help you with your bags.

I wish I could write an excellent review for this hotel, because they were very accommodating when we had to cancel our original reservation - made through booking.com as a non-refundable booking - due to illness and a need for surgery. They told us that we could rebook within a year, which we very much appreciate. We did rebook as soon as we were able to travel again, and even added to the original number of nights. The room was clean and the bathroom was also clean and comfortable. But the downsides - some of which I saw mentioned in other reviews - include: no elevator, no A/C and no screens on the windows, no one at the desk for much of the time, no security for bags left there after checkout, shuttle not as convenient as I expected. I'll elaborate a bit. I don't know what kind of rooms are on the ground floor, but our twin room was a steep flight up. The personnel helped drag the luggage upstairs, but you do feel bad having a young woman, not particularly muscularly built, drag these suitcases for you, so that my spouse ended up carrying one upstairs, no easy task since we are not young, and he took them downstairs and did not even ask for help. The lack of A/C was problematic because we lucked out and had nice warm weather, but the room was quite hot (much warmer than outside), even at night, and we opened the windows and there were mosquitoes. If you are going to try to manage without A/C (I'm OK with that - reduce the carbon footprint), then put screens on the windows. Someone else mentioned no late night check-in. It worked out OK for us, but it was close and I was nervous about it But the more serious aspect of not having someone at the desk all the time - even in daytime hours (there is a bell to ring for someone) is that there is no security for luggage that they put in a closet if you have a flight after checkout time. We didn't need to be at the airport until 6pm or even later, and checkout is by noon. So, as we do in many hotels, we checked out and asked them to keep our bags (which we checked in advance can be done). As it turns out, they put the suitcases in an unlocked, open closet, across from the front desk, but the desk is unattended and the hotel door is wide open during daytime hours. Not only is this a problem as far as theft (even if this is a low-crime neighborhood, it only takes one crook to ruin your vacation); it is a problem as far as airline security. You can't very well tell the airlines that since packing the suitcases no one else had access to them, can you? It is taking too much of a risk to do that! I would not do that again. The shuttle is quite close, so long as you don't have any large luggage with you. If you do, it is really not very convenient to pull it on a non-smooth surface even for the short block (no, it is not right across the street). And, a last couple of smaller issues: the mattresses were too soft, and there are not enough hooks for towels in the bathroom. A couple of hooks right over the toilet just are not the best design. A last positive point: very close to a couple of supermarkets, which is quite useful. Some of the airport hotels are not walking distance to a supermarket.

Room Tip: If the ground floor rooms are the type you need, you won't have to deal with steps.

A note on the site said arrive by 11pm. I assumed they only had a night porter. I phoned up to say I was late and would arrive at 1AM. They were fine. I arrived at 3AM to find the place locked and dark. It's a tiny hotel and there is no night presence. Having got in (long story) it was very comfortable, and the staff delightful. Really nice place.

On the edge of a retail park or something. Can't imagine why you'd be there apart from the proximity to the airport, but the hotel itself is great. Oh, you can park.

This little gem is a smart alternative to the chain hotels, especially if you are travelling by car. Homely and relaxed yet accommodating to the business traveller, with good wifi access, efficient reception service, choice of two very good restaurants (Frenach or Italian - both very good), free parking and good proximity to airport with reliable shuttle service.

Rooms are clean, comfortable, functional and quiet.

I particularly enjoyed the fact I could take a 10 minute walk into the local village and enjoy the local environment. Very nice area for a morning run for the energetic ones!

Price/quality is superior to the big chain hotels. Definitley will return next time I fly from Schipol.

We chose this hotel because of the availability of parking. We have been to Amsterdam before and are aware of the cost of parking in the City area.. As it turned out, it was a great choice as the staff were very helpful, the room was great and well appointed. We were for two nights, and ate in both restaurants. The food was good and the service very friendly.

It is an easy walk (200m) to catch the free shuttlebus at the Novotel, and a quick 15 minute train trip to Central station. We would recommend this hotel stongly, articularly if you have a car that you do not wish to take into the city. We did not experience any aircraft noise at all.

It was the complete opposite to the experience that we had at Ypres the previous night. John and Clara Ongley

Room Tip: We are relatively senior and had a downstairs room.

This was the perfect place for our last night in Holland after a tiring 3-week stay. It is family-run and we felt on arrival that we were truly welcome guests! Not at all like the big chain motels--this little hotel has true character. It is clean, very comfortable, quiet, service-oriented, convenient to Schiphol, and offers 2 fine restaurants on-site. It is a terrific value for the money.
