“Staying in Amsterdam”

This was a very nice hotel. It had great rooms, great service, and was in a nice quiet neighborhood. Getting to Amsterdam was a slight adventure. We took the tram and it's a little drive from the hotel, but worth it.

We stayed for 3 nights in a 3 person room. The room had a double bed and an extra fold away bed was added for the third guest. There was still enough space left to move around. The double bed was very comfy; the extra bed was less comfy so not really recommanded for long stays. What we liked about the hotel: the location, the price, the free airport shuttle, the free parking, the spacious rooms, the free Wi-Fi, the friendly staff. One person in our party arrived at the airport after we had checked-in already and we used the free shuttle (very nearby) to pick her up. Very convenient. Breakfast was good with a wide selection of meats, cheeses, eggs, bacon, yoghurt, breads, nice coffee etc.; however, we thought it was expensive for those guests that only take a bowl of cereals and a cup of coffee. There is no AC and no elevator in the hotel. There are rooms on the ground floor and if needed, one will be helped to take the suitcases up to the first floor. There was a fan in the room and that helped with the warmer weather. It would be nice though to have screens in the window to keep the insects out and get some fresh air in. There is a fitness centre across the road that can be used by the guests for a reduced price. We will return to De Herbergh when in town.

the staff here was very friendly and even changed our reservation at the last minute to accommodate an additional traveler. they offered directions and parking info for our dinner in the city. the airport location is GREAT for an early flight and the room was clean and comfortable.
thank goodness for free wifi too --rare in europe.

Room Tip: we reserved for four persons but ended up with five at check in. they showed us two options and two...

We selected this hotel as we needed a place close to the airport. We arrived much earlier than the check-in starts, yet we were admitted to our room within 30 minutes or so at no extra cost. This was unexpected and very nice as we needed some refreshment after 7-hour long night flight. The Novotel shuttle runs regularly, and it is a big advantage to board it at that particular location: it picks up passengers from other, bigger, hotels and there was not enough room in the baggage section for all suitcases and bags.

We stayed at this hotel after reading the rave reviews. Understand that you get what you pay for, but this is ridiculous!!! First of all: This place has NO air conditioning! Most of the time in Holland this might not be a big deal, but we arrived at 11 p.m. to a room that was well over 90F/32C. When we asked about AC, we were reminded the place had a fan. Wow, a fan!! Needless to say, we had the window (singular) open all night with the A/C (Fan) going, lots of bugs flying around since there are nt screens and my wife and I never slept a wink. I'm a heavy sleeper, but I couldn't fall asleep, place stunk, was filthy with lots of nice left over hair in the bath. I've stayed in all types of hotels all over the world including some not so great places in China and Taiwan. My family is from Holland and I must say, this place is an absolute embarrassment that should be avoided at all costs....

PS: If you have an early flight like we did (7 a.m.), don't bother with this place as you'll wind up catching a cab and paying nearly 30Euros as the shuttle, which isn't such an easy walk if you have kids and lots of baggage, doesn't start until 5 a.m.

Room Tip: If you must stay here and it is during the summer, ask them to put you in a room that is less sauna...

Dear sir, thank you for taking the time to write a review about your stay. First of all I apologize that your bathroom was not clean to our standards. You are right about the ac in Holland we do not need this most of the time. 350 days of the year the weather is not so hot. We do hope you enjoyed the nice warm weather while you where here, most of your college tourists have had rain this summer visiting Holland. We are very pleased to offer our guests free shuttle service
( 5 am-01 am) most of our college hotels offer shuttle service for a fee. If we would have also shuttle service at night we could not have offered you a room for a reasonable price. The walk to the shuttlestop is 2 min. in case there is a lot of luggage, small children, rain etc. we are pleased to give a lift to the shuttle stop, starting 7 am. We regret you choose our hotel after all, our advise to you is pay more for a 5***** hotel were you have all the service you expect and wish. We are a 3***+ hotel with a good price value and high standard of guestservice, 2 good restaurants.

(ps. tip: read reviews of previous guests and website of the hotel before you choose the best suitable hotel for your party! You would have known that we do not have ac and that the shuttle is running from 5 am, you also read that we have free wifi and 95% satisfied guests)

My husband and I stayed here on our last night of a three-week Europe holiday because we needed to be at the airport early the next morning. The guy at reception couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming, passing on info about local public transport that enabled us to travel into the city for a night out. Room small but large enough for one night. The Novotel shuttle bus to and from the airport was a two minute walk away and worked well for us. Breakfast was fresh and substantial. Our phone didn't work which meant that the hotel couldn't provide us with a wake up call but this was our only criticism. I would definitely stay here again.

very nice hotel, situated in a very convenient location : a quiet dutch small town, 10 mins to Schiphol, 15 mins to the City of Amsterdam (driving of course).

good parking place (in the backyard of thr hotel, not on the street).

nice personnel.

unfortunatelly we didnt use the restaurant for lunch or dinner, so i cannot say anything; the brekfast: very good.

will use again for sure. and fully recommend.

You took the car into Amsterdam, there is also a good bus in the village to take you to the citycentre of Amsterdam or Haarlem in less than 25 min.
