“good location but a high price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2009

This is a great hotel and a market is an easy walk. Prices are high, including 20 euros for 24 hours of the internet. But the free shuttle and easy location to the airport makes this a good hotel.

Instead of leaving home in the middle of the night from the Uk we decided to break our journey to Peru with a stop over at Schipol airport and were so pleased we had. Instead of a 6am flight from Manchester to connect with the 10am from Amsterdam to Lima we took an early afternoon flight the day before. (Luggage was booked right through to Peru )On arrival we were upgraded to a superior room. As previous guests have said the rooms are well appointed, really enjoyed the very large bath. Good buffet breakfast, very friendly efficient staff, free internet access, and a very efficient free transfer to the airport.
We booked the hotel direct on their website, as we could get a better deal our self than our travel agent could get, 99 euros for 2 including buffet breakfast. Well recommended hotel.

We prepaid for a night at this hotel which included free shuttle service to and from Schipol airport, and due to their online special, a free breakfast buffet. Check-in was quick and easy, the room large, clean and wonderfully appointed. There was a coffee/tea/hot chocolate maker in our room! 20 minutes of free internet use was included down in the lobby. The morning breakfast buffet was superb! We had a most pleasant stay in wonderful surroundings.he bath was luxurious and had everything we needed. The bed and duvet were extremely comfortable. Shuttle service from and to the airport was easy and efficient. EXCELLENT hotel!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2009

Stayed one night in March 2009 because I had a flight the next morning. Nothing spectacular here. I found that the main entrance required a climb of about 6 - 10 stair steps - no ramp. Perhaps there is is one elsewhere. I only had a short visit - I arrived about 10 PM and left around 8 AM the next day. I booked an Expedia Hot Deal, paid in advance, for about $103 (USD). Had to pay an additional $5 or so on site for taxes. Not bad. The hotel was quiet - no jets roaring overhead at all hours - at least the night I was there. There are no frills here. Honor Bar? Buy stuff in the lobby and stock it yourself. The room was OK, but it had a split duvet (two twin duvets on a king bed). Perhaps this is a Netherlands thing I am unfamiliar with, but I don't care for it. My only real complaint is the bathroom. The ceiling is a suspended ceiling, and those get grungy over time. It looks bad. However, the room was clean. also, the tub has a glass wall along half of the length to act as a shower curtain. However, the floor still gets wet and I had to mop the floor. I have seen this in other hotels. Not a very good design. The best thing going for this hotel is the Airport shuttle. It is free, prompt, and runs frequently. Ask about it when you check in and they will give you a small detailed schedule. I did not eat there, as I planned to eat at the airport (ate in the BA Club World Lounge). The hotel is nowhere near the Amsterdam City Center. My cab ride from the Passenger Terminal (near Central Station) to the hotel cost over $60. That is normal. If you want to stay there and tour Amsterdam, check out the public transportation options (if cost is an issue).

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2009

Stayed here for one night as part of an Amsterdam and Bruge Velentines trip with my partner, mum and niece.

First thoughts- it is not in the centre of Amsterdam so don't expect to be walking here from town. It is a good 15 minutes drive away.
The building does'nt look all that great but once inside it is a modern, clean and well looked after establishment.

Our keys did not work and we had two twin rooms instead of a double but this was probably the tour operators fault rather than the hotels. This was soon sorted at reception.
We got a double (room 549) which was a double however we were left with two single duvets which sort of made it poiintless!

The downstairs bar was nice with a large projection TV although the bar man was off sick and therefore no cocktails could be made up. They were not on the menu anyway which is a shame.

The pool, although not used by us looked great as well as internet access room.

Breakfast was superb. plenty of choice, friendly staff and very clean. A choice of ceriels as well as traditional english were on offer and even smoked salmon. If you waned a particular kind of egg, say fried you had to order the night before.

The quality of teas asnd coffees were exxcellent too.

All in all this is easily a good 4 star and we would definately stay there again if we travelled to Amsterdam!..

Liam

"Hot Deal" means buy now, forfeit later. Because of airline blunder, I was unable to check in on reservation date. Novotel pocketed my 1100 Euro prepayment for one week stay. BUYER BEWARE.

We were due to stay in another hotel - Radisson but they had overbooked and moved us to this hotel. Basic hotel, clean, no frills. Good downstairs bar though with extremely friendly staff. Overall, this hotel is as average as it gets - which is OK and applicable for the airport.
