“Double Payment Charged... Worst Customer Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

I stayed at Amsterdam Airport Novotel for a day on 17th Nov 2011. I checked out on 18th Morning and make cash payment. When I reached back India, what I notice that my credit card has also been charged twice by them. When I make the call to inform, what I hear from them is "We are very busy 'Sir, please send an email." Isn't that great customer service, where it seems they just do not care. Now I have wrote that email and let see what else I have in surprise.

I will make sure, I never stay in such kind of Hotel. Also, the hotel doesn't accept American Express Traveller Cheques in Euros.

Room Tip: I won't prefer suggesting anyone to stay.

I stayed in this Hotel for some days, but I was very surprised about the very bad restaurant found in thi Hotel. Novotel normally should be much better, but in this location I was definitely not happy. The waiter is it very ungently and "cold", very poor selection, few offer and very poor quality ... asked as second coarse a cheese plate a little than normal, he said me "as on the list of nothing" .... I decided then to go our to dinners .... breakfast it is also definitely very very poor, you can never find a table ready, all people are going in and out to check for clean table, at 8.00 o'clock in the morning with a lot of people, waiters close half room, in this way they set up all the guest doing more confusion then normal .... very upset ! Room are quite large, the good thing it is that you have free internet wired and wifi, and also parking is free, but the price of 155 euro it is not exaclty nothing. The last day I decide to extend one more night JUST FOR LOGISTIC REASON, they asked me 30 Euro more than paid, so I left them immediately. Never again !

Nice indoor pool. Additional charge for gym/fitness next door.
Not much other than gym in close proximity but regular shuttle runs to airport.
Friendly staff.

All in all we had a very good experience. Staff was friendly and responded promptly to our requests, the rooms were clean, comfortable beds. Though it's an airport hotel, it is very quiet. Breakfast was ok, the kids loved the indoors pool which is located in the spa and open till 10PM. We were travelling with a group+bus, so I can't say anything about the location and transportation to the airport/city center.
FREE WIFI was available in the rooms and around the hotel which was VERY convenient (you need to ask for a password when you check in).
there is a great Italian restaurant as well as a French restaurant within a 2 minutes walk from the hotel and a supermarket within a 5-10 min. walk.

5-10 minutes by free shuttle that runs every 20 minutes from Schiphol. Free wifi. Clean and comfortable rooms. Pleasant front desk staff. Mini bar. Iron and ironing board. Restaurant and bar in lobby but the convenient airport shuttle takes you back to Schiphol......an eating and shopping extravaganza.
Will stay there again.

We have started to use this hotel for internal company business meetings. We have had several gatherings in recent weeks and the hotel has provided us with a good level of support.

There is a really efficient shuttle bus from the Airport that takes around 10 - 15 minutes to the hotel.

From my experience you always get a friendly and warm welcome. The rooms I have had have always been clean and tidy etc. The rooms have also been quiet with no noise to disturb me when I have stayed here.

The food served has also been of a good standard and we have had no cause for complaints.

The meeting facilities that the hotel have provided have also been more than suitable for our needs again with no cause for complaint.

Stayed here for 3 nights during Easter.
Location - As the name says, its an airport hotel - outside the city. The view is amazing with vast fields (not tulip) till your eyes can see.
Excelllent Hotel Shuttle - Frequent complimentary service to and fro to the airport is a major plus point and it is very punctual. The cheapest and the best way to go to the city - take the shuttle to the airport and then take a train.
Staff - All the staff members - reception, restaurant, house keeping are very friendly.
Rooms - The rooms are quite spacious, well furnished and maintained.
Breakfast - The breakfast is lavish and enjoyed it. You can pick a fruit for the road.
Internet - You can check your mails at the internet corner near the lobby.

Tip - If you are a tourist planning to visit the city then the time wasted in commuting and the cost of travel by train should be factored. Definitely, your first choice should be a city hotel irrespective of the price.
Nightlife - You cannot truly enjoy the nightlife as you have to reach back before the last shuttle and taxis can be very expensive. Walking around the RLD area was a different experience all together.
Must Do - One full day at Kukenhof Tulip Gardens. You can get a bus directly outside the airport which takes you to the gardens. After seeing the gardens we took the a.c HopOnHopOff bus (very economical) at the garden entrance - the entire route is absolutely scenic and you can see tulip fields for miles, country houses and the beachside. In the evening we saw a vast collection of vintage cars including many Rolls Royce at the garden entrance. What an awesome day we had....

Room Tip: Road side, west facing rooms offer a great view
