“Not 5 stars, but nice spot”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

This hotel is situated at a top location by the sea, with amazing beaches and nice beach clubs / restaurants nearby. The hotel itself pretends 5 stars, but where are the stars? Rooms not very clean, rather old and dusty, no coffee/tea facilities in the room, bed good enough but not great. They can barely cope with ''full house"; the bar/restaurant service was not professional, while the prices were 5 stars like always (am happy to pay,if I get the service you might expect). Pool very smal, sauna area / changing rooms old/dirty. Would like to come back after refurbishment.

this highrise hotel is not very appealing from the exterior, but its beauty lies within its walls.Staff are very friendly and helpfull, the location on a bluff on the northsea coast is brilliant. The hotel has direct acces to the beach.Nice to combine business (Amsterdam is 30 minutes away) and pleasure.

Room Tip: rooms with landview are a bargain.I can recommend to dine al fresco at the terrace of the La Terrace...

stayed here for the first time for 2 nights, and had a wonderful time. I agree with other reviewers that the hotel looks unimpressive from the outside, and indeed much of it is a concrete monstrosity, however, it really is a five star experience on the service side. From check in, (greeted professionally and friendly, no hassle) to asking for Air Con to be checked in the room (quick turn up of service engineer) this is a 5 star experience of service. However, some of the furniture in the rooms could do with replacement (scratched and worn), but the beds, bedding, and bathrooms all wonderful. We also ate in the Michelin restaurant and the food was divine, with inspired ingredients and combinations and fabulously surprising value as well.
The location is great, right on the beautiful sandy beach, although Noordwijck is a small seaside town only, so not much to see or do.
the spa is also fabulous, beautiful dark wood panels and doors, and good range of treatments. The facial was wonderful, relaxing and effective!
Definitely recommend this for a few days either in summer or winter, walks along the beach in cold weather would still be great.

Room Tip: the only must is a room overlooking the sea

I have had the misfortune to stay at the Huis ter Duin five times, always in July. The hotel itself is monumentally ugly, slabs of grey concrete on the outside, perched on a grey, flat beach where it always rains. Whilst they can't do anything about the weather they could change the decor and the food. The interior of the hotel is dark brown and black which in the gloomy climate is so depressing and so old fashioned. The food is truly awful. The hotel owners do not seem to appreciate that most travellers want healthy, wholesome, fresh food. The traditional fare at lunch is white bread sandwiches, or creamy rich fatty sauces, over fancy and over fiddly creamy whipped puddings, no vegetables, no salad, it is truly appalling. If you have to stay in this gloomy location do not waste your money by staying here.

Room Tip: The bedrooms are brighter and are large and clean.

Staying very often in the very elegant Knokke Le Zoute in Belgium , I can only find the dutch coast very ugly by all standards and Noordwijck is no exception . But Huis ter Duin , an ugly architectural hotel from the outside , is a very nice hotel inside . Very nice and large rooms overlooking the sea , large hallways , several restaurants serving good good , several bars , excellent service by very friendly people . I would not spend holidays there but for a conference or a business meeting , it is very pleasant and very quiet.

about 30 minutes from Schipol, this hotel is an old fashioned treat, with a modern style. It sits above one of the finest beaches, and its terraces are perfect to catch the sunset. Service was very good, and the Breaker House restaurant on the beach was atmospheric and excellent food.
all in all , a treat - be sure to ask for a room facing the sea.

I had little expectations of an "old, classic hotel" on the North Sea, but was thrilled to be there. I would have stayed longer and look forward to going back again. About 30 or so minutes from Schipol airport (Amsterdam), you can get a totally different experience from Amsterdam. It is on a great walking beach with wonderful restaurants all around, including at the hotel. The rooms are lovely (had a beach front room which was well worth the price. You can walk into town and do some shopping and eating. The Noordwijk golf course (private, but you could call to try to get on and is worth playing) and the preserve it is in is very close. Biking around is a delight.

The staff is excellent and very friendly. The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired. A wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Try for beachfront at end of hall.
