“An Inside Job.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We were flying out the next day so this Hotel was an easy choice. We have stayed at other Ibis and we are accostomed to the small clean rooms. We showered, went to dinner and upon our return we found some items missing! After a full search we were out 2 cammer's and a very nice necklace. We had our computors and other important items with us at dinner. We filed a report with the staff and the police. The police thought it could easily be a inside job. BEWARE of this Ibis.

Room Tip: Take all your valuables with you. Marseille is famous for it's level of thieft.

Hello and thank you for your comments
I did what's necessary with my insurance to clarify this situation, but the fact of having lost your key in corridors made that somebody certainly entered it. I insist on the fact that it is not more frequent on Marseille than somewhere else contrary to what was said, and that as everywhere else, it is necessary to be all eyes. I am sorry for this situation but it would have been necessary to say to us i that the card had been lost we would have cancelled you the key and prevented whoever from bringing in.cordially.

Good ibis about 800m away from the airport. It is walkable, a taxi will charge a minimum fee of 8 euros, but there is free hotel shuttle every 30 min until 11pm.

The rooms are above ibis average, more spacious with fake wood flooring..nice.

The breakfast is standard, quite ok. To my surprise, there is a swimming pool, which of course nobody use during winter.

The only complain maybe about the staff. 1 guy at my arrival was very nice, but the other front desk are not really police and a bit careless if not arrogant.
A maid came in my room without knocking the door...even if she apologized latter on, it pissed me off...

I landed in marseille after 23:30, so there wasn't bus shuttle btw airport and hotel. But! It took me only about 10 minutes to get from hall 1 to the hotel and it's very easy: you go straight through parking number 3 and at the end of the parking you'll see Ibis building.

There is free wifi and free parking in the hotel. Room quality - nothing special, it's just another network ibis hotel and you go there only because you know, that rooms are not nice, but you won't find very disgusting things there.

1 L of water in the bar costs almost 5euro. Are you crazy guys?

My wife and I stayed here the night of Sept 26, as we were flying back to the US the next morning. The room was small, but very clean, as was the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. So rating the room alone, in addition to the efficient check-in and check-out, I'd rate the hotel 4 stars for it's peer group. However, we had dinner that evening in the hotel restaurant and while the menu has a wide variety of items, and fairly priced, the service is so slow, it's something that they really need to work on. Maybe they feel that they're dealing with a captive audience who wants convenience to rather than service. The service is pleasant enough when you finally get your order taken, but it takes much too long. There doesn't appear to be someone in charge to make sure that the things are working efficiently.

The main attraction to this hotel is it's proximity to the airport. There is an airport shuttle, but I decided to do the 10 minute walk.

A buffet breakfast is served from 4am, a very useful feature for those catching early flights. If only more hotels did this! The onsite restaurant is also good.

The rooms are as expected - small, clean and functional. The air conditioning is sufficient, and the wi-fi signal strong enough to make skype calls.

The walls are a little thin too, so if the people in the next room are loud, you'll be able to hear them.

Overall the hotel has reasonable value for money.

We had an early morning flight so stayed at the Ibis to be close to the airport. The rooms are small and furnish the bare minimum of what is needed, but that's what we expected. The room was clean and I needed extra towels and that wasn't a problem. There were luggage carts in the elevator area which was a big help in the morning getting our stuff downstairs. The staff were efficient and a big plus is that the restaurant is open late, the food is marginal but we checked in at 10pm and had not eaten, so we didn't care!
