The hotel is in a wonderful location with sea view on a hill above Camogli village. Main issues are:
- great sea view
- nice restaurant (expensive, average 60 Euro per person)
- on average rooms with small bathrooms
- beautiful trekking area starting from the hotel
- a small SPA inside the structure with a small swimming pool, indoor as well
- far from the sea: 10 minutes by car to Camogli beaches and 30 minutes from Portofino by car. Hotel bus available for free to Camogli same ownership Cenobio dei Dogi hotel with private beach
- old overall structure but recently renewed
- reception staff availability on average
- not too expensive for the location

This was our second stay at the Kulm. We booked two rooms, a double and triple. The setting is exceptional. The hotel is situated high above the Mediterranean - you travel through a park setting for over a mile. Our triple was small for three adults - the hotel upgraded this room on the second night, when a larger water- view room became available. Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the bay of Portofino below. Breakfast included a full range of breads, yogurt, cereals, some fruit and one type of meat/cheese. Juice and your choice of coffees available - included in the price. Hotel provides shuttle service to the sister hotel on the water (Cenobio dei dogi).
Towns nearby include Camogli and Recco which have a good choice of restaurants. A good place to stay if you visit Cinque Terre.
We drove to Sestri and took the train from there. Frequented more by Europeans/Italians which we liked.

Hotel Portofino Kulm was our first stop of our vacation in Italy. We enjoyed the spectacular views and a quiet room to recover from jet lag. After a morning hike in the adjacent national park, we rushed back to check out and left a jewelry pouch in the safe. Upon arrival to our next stop, we figured out our mistake and called the hotel. The staff was very honest and Gabriella helped me get my jewelry back! On a side note -- the staff also helped us with reservations at a wonderful local restaurant - La Cucina Di Nonna Nina -- it was delicious!
