“Beautiful position, charming staff, good restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2010

The best hotel we stayed at (out of 7) on a recent tour of the Italian Riviera. Part of a Group which has hotels in historic buildings. Our beautiful room and the bar/terrace overlooked the sea. The restaurant has views of Genova in the distance. Impeccable service from friendly, professional staff. Highly recommended

The railway station is a up a very steep flight of steps/long upward hill walk so allow time if travelling by train. There is a very good new restaurant Osteria da Sigu near the hotel. Innovative, brilliant cooking

We have spent October in Italy for the last 45 years -- and we're a bit jaded because of our good fortune. This was our first time in Camogli and at this wonderful hotel. There was a storm the second night we were there, and a pine cone (una pigna) fell from a 100 foot pine tree and literally exploded the rear window of our new, leased Peugeot.. After the discovery, the reservations manager, Paola Pastine took command, had the staff pull the car next to the hotel, extended the awning to protect the car from the rain, had her people clean the glass from the car, remove the remaining rear window, carefully tape clear vinyl over the opening -- and the car was ready to drive in an hour.

The next morning, without being asked, she contacted not only the hotel's insurance company, but Peugeot in France as well. She also contacted the leasing company to explain the circumstances and to get an approval to have the window replaced at hotel expense by Peugeot in Rapallo. It was so satisfying to experience this caring, professional woman at work on behalf of the hotel and be doing all this for first time guests. It wasn't as if we knew these people or were returning guests..

I was compelled to preface this 'review' with the preceding for I feel the people who staff a hotel are the essence of the hotel and the most important 'amenity.'

The hotel, the suite, the view, the town hugging the shore and rocky coast were all dramatic, beautiful , romantic and call us back again. It's so wonderful to find a place and some people who so affected us. Thank you to the GM Mauro Siri, to Paola, to the efficient and caring Elena Berlese and Daniela Ottobrini at the reception desk, to Lucca, the jack-of-all trades bellman, for making our stay one we will duplicate (with the exeption of La Pigna) with God's help, every year. Tante Grazie. DK and Bk

The advantages are a beautiful location, very pleasant dining and tea with charming staff and a lovely town. The negatives are an unimaginative desk, charmless rooms with few amenities and little generosity, extremely bad sound-proofing and needing a little freshening-up.Cleanliness was not optimal and you tend to have to fit in to the staff's routine rather than the other way round. This hotel should decide if it is catering to business meetings or hotel guests and should have a good look at other hoels of this category to think how they might accomodate their guests more warmly.

The location was stunning. The hotel had "old world charm". In other words...very nice but a renovation woudn't hurt it. The biggest problem was the staff. They were so rude that you simply wanted to avoid them. When you go to a hotel like this, you expect excellent service-that was not to be found here. For this reason, I would stay elsewhere. The hotel was very expensive for the product delivered. Not worth the hassle and not worth the money.

This hotel has a fantastic location and the view from the outside bar area is amazing. We were staying for a friends wedding. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help. The hotels private beach was lovely. There was no traffic noise. Camogli was a good village to stay in from this point of view compared to other villages in the region. Although the rooms were a little 'tired' they were very clean and well looked after. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and the breakfast also had quite a large choice. Would def. go back here.

We stayed here for one night in September, 2009. An excellent hotel with its own private beach ( which seemed like something that's almost necessary in Camogli as public beach seems limited ) and pool. The room that we had was fine ( slightly dated ) and the hotel building is an interesting one with a lot of charm ( nice public spaces and even the chapel to take a look at ) - it's interesting to read the history of the building.

We had drinks in the bar which was excellent ( great view of the sunset from the terrace bar outside ) and then dinner outside at the second restaurant over the beach - the food was brilliant and the atmosphere of watching the sunset over Camogli was great.

I have got mixed feelings about this place. It's location is amazing. However at such high prices they could heat up their pool. They could teach their beach staff how to treat customers who spend an average of 300 euros per day. How come can they charge extra for beach beds? Their beach staff are arrogant, rude, and not respectful. However the parking and lobby staff are very nice and helpful. Rooms are nice and pleasant. However this hotel is way too pricey for what it has to offer.
