“Great atmosphere with incredible views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

This hotel breath's the atmosphere of the past century's 50's/60's, altough some of the furniture don't realy fit in the style of the main buildings and surroundings , the overall impression is absolutely a must see on the Ligurian coast. The staff was friendly and helpful from arrival upto departure, The complete breakfast is served in a large room with stunning view along Camogli and the sea. Price's are quite high but we stayed during the Genoa boat show which is top season.Camogli is a charming little town with prominent boulevard and historical fisher's marina , compared with Rapallo and Santa Margherita , here you find more tranquillity and rest. In the hotel we had a magnificent day at the pool laying in the sun , beginning of october! Great.Another good value is the secured free parking space in the garden. Having stayed in a lot of hotels along the Ligurian coast over the past ten years, Cenobio deo dogi will be among our favourites.

In Sept. of 2011, stayed at this hotel for the third time. Hadn't been there since 2006, when it seemed a bit frayed around the edges and needed some work (carpets were tired, as was furniture in the rooms). Luckily, the place has been spiffed up a bit and even my small room with no view was very nice, with a comfortable bed and very quiet. This is an old hotel with very nice period furnishings, if that matters to you. The position of this hotel is fabulous—walking distance to the center of town (a nice walk it is, too) and the lungomare. Also close to the train station, so if you want to go to Cinque Terre this is a great base for that, especially since the hotel has its own parking lot and parking is free. (Not quite sure why you would even want to go to Cinque Terre, which is now seriously overrun with tourists, even out-of-season, thanks to a certain well-known travel writer from Seattle.) You won't find a lot of tourists in Camogli, just locals going about their business and kids playing soccer on the beach (rocky but good for swimming anyhow). The Dei Dogi also has spectacular views from its beautiful gardens and common areas, really romantic and wonderful, especially early and late in the day. The buffet breakfast is somewhat frenzied but is as good as most such offerings at hotels in Italy and better than many. All in all, my single room here for €160 was a very good value and you would but hard-pressed to do better in this charming town, which is well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near the elevators, which are noisy. Probably worth it to splurge on a sea view room her...

The Cenobio dei Dogi is an interesting old building on the eastern seafront of Camogli. As well as a private beach, there is a salt water swimming pool, around which is a pleasant seating area.

The numbering system on the bedrooms is rather cryptic, so it took us several attempts to find ours. Our so-called garden room was in the main building, and I have to say that I was quite disappointed. For a 4* hotel, it really was very basic: no luggage rack, no armchair. There were two windows, one of which was mostly hidden behind the wardrobe; the other looked out onto a corner of the patio. As a result the room felt quite dark and claustrophobic. We tried to upgrade but decided that it wasn't worth paying an extra 170 euros a night for a sea view. Perhaps we should have forked out: with the window slightly open at night, it was quite noisy, with the sound of trains & passing revellers.

The bathroom was small but efficiently laid out. The only quibble was the annoying tendency for the sink surround to flood as soon as the tap was used.

Breakfast was in a wonderfully light & airy room looking out to sea, and there was a good selection. This being October, two out of three of the restaurants were closed, but there were dozens more on the doorstep.

All the staff were friendly & helpful.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Amazing setting, beautiful, quaint, small village, private beach (rocky not sand), staff very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return.

I was glad to stay for one night in such lovely hotel on Riviera di Levante near Genova although the price is a little bit high. I booked it thru Booking.com and not regret. The staff was very polite, my single room was little, but clean and well equiped. Hotel have a very good location and many flowers everywhere. A view to the Camogli from the restaurant and a terrace above was spectacular, especially in the evening lighths (very romantic!). Breakfast was o.k.
The town is very picturesque with their tall and colorfull houses and a little beaches in the center. It is not so far from Genova, only half an hour drive along the coast.
I highly suggest a cruise trip (from May till end of September) to nearly Benedictine Abbey of San Fruttuoso with beautiful beach and the graves of the Doria family (Doges of Genova).

Room Tip: Rooms with the seaside view with the balcony are the best choise.

Nothing but good things to say about this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast room is quite unique with a view on the ocean. The beach is one of the aspects we enjoyed most about this hotel. From the beach you have a stunning view of Camogli.
My family and I would soak up the sun on the private beach in the morning, and would explore Camogli and the surrounding cities in the afternoons.
A definite must for travelers visiting the Italian Riviera. My only regret? That we only stayed for three nights!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon to Italy. The stay was to be a treat hotel for us. Firstly Camogli is beautiful and is lovely to stay here if you want to do day trips to Portofino(especially if you cannot afford to stay in Portofino) and Santa Margherita. The Italian riviera is truly beautiful!

Hotel was in a good location and the views are spectacular from the pool deck and breakfast room. We only ate here for breakfast and enjoyed our meals. It was nice to have a private beach with towels and sun-decks as the main beaches were crowed in summer time. We did our own research to eat at dinners as we are fussy diners and chose not to stay in the hotel and have a more Italian experience. It seems it was a wise choice looking at other reviews.

Our room was also very small and not a real view of anything. So perhaps it was a tad overpriced!! If you love waking up to an amazing view at breakfast and lazing around the lovely pool in the hot afternoon sun then this place is for you. Next time we might try something a little cheaper!
