“Perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

We spent 7 days at the Splendid Palace from 4th September. When we arrived we were given a room just got unpacked then received a phone call to say they had given us the wrong room!! We were given a voucher for 2 free drinks for the inconvenience. We were given room 410 where the balcony is straight onto the swimming pool. No problem. We didn't use balcony anyway. This hotel is perfect for getting ferry to Malcesine, taking walks and going into town in the evening. Great views over lake. On a clear day you can see the cable car and the para-gliders jumping off the top of Monte Baldo. As other reviewers have said, this hotel is dated, but clean, staff friendly and food generally very good. Would go back again:-) Make sure you explore the town of Limone, the lemon groves and the local restaurants. Take a trip to Verona too. Very clean.

Room Tip: Lower numbered floors have better views of lake rather than the swimming pool

We travelled with friends who'd been to the hotel before, and it more than lived up to the expectations we got from them. It does live up to its name too and probably the best positioned hotel in Limone, fabulous views over the lake and only 5 minutes from the centre of the village.

From the minute you check-in, you get a friendly greeting and nothing's too much trouble. We had a welcome drink voucher as well as a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine, both lovely. The staff are very helpful and all speak good English. The public areas of the hotel are bright, clean and comfortable. The dining room is lovely and the waiting staff fabulous. You'd be hard pressed to find better food in Italy.... The quality and selection for the buffet style dinner and breakfast meals is outstanding. You get free beer and wine with your dinner, which is self-service, very drinkable and you really can have as much as you like!

The bedrooms are clean and comfortable but a little dated in furnishings and fittings, but you only have to look out of the window to realise with a view as fabulous as the one over the lake, dated rooms really don't matter! All rooms have lake views, with the best views on the top floors, say level 1 and 2. The levels take a little getting used to, with 0 being the top floor with Reception and the swimming pool level at level 4 (the bottom floor).

Two quick tips, there are proper hair dryers available from Reception if you don't get on with the ones in the bathroom (not very powerful and very slow). Free wifi only available in public areas and I think only free for a certain time each day. You can pay €10 for 7 days wifi and you get access to a number of networks, so you can choose the best signal strength, and available in every location in the hotel. Pop along to Reception and they'll give you a user name and password and help with the techie bits too.

Getting to the shops and harbour is easy via some steps and a walkway. The steps are by the swimming pool and pool bar on level 4. The walkway takes you straight to the harbour for the ferry boats and shops and bars just around the corner.

The pool wasn't overly busy while we were there but isn't heated so you'll probably be the only ones actually in the water! Don't miss the smaller pool and quieter terrace area, accessible from the cut-through to the harbour area. You need a code from Reception to access this area but its quick and easy. You can also use this area to get to the small beach and it's another way to get to the harbour.

Overall, the hotel really is splendid and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It has the best view of Limone and the lake itself. Don't forget your binoculars so you can watch the paragliders come off the top of Monte Baldo on the opposite side of the lake.

If you've booked and wondered if you've picked a good hotel, be assured you have! Enjoy...

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the higher levels, 1 and 2, for the best lake views.

This was our second visit to Limone and Splendid Palace. It was fantastic last year so we returned this year in August and were not disappointed. This hotel is one of the best package holiday hotels we have stayed in. Arrived at 20.30 expecting the dinning room to be closed but the great staff on reception took our passports, told us to leave our cases and go into the dinning room; great news after travelling 8hrs! Our allocated room was on level 2 and had a splendid lake view. It's worth paying a little extra to get a lake view room as views are stunning day and night. The rooms are a good size with everything you need except we would suggest you take your own hairdryer! The restaurant has a fantastic variety of food of excellent standard, and the free drinks with evening meal are good quality and a great bonus! The hotel is spotlessly clean and all the staff are courteous and friendly. The town of Limone is just a short walk away and is ideally situated to explore other places on the lake. We would have no hesitation recommending Splendid Palace to anyone.

Room Tip: Lake view, levels1&2

Reading other reviews and have to agree with all the good points. We had a room on fourth floor which seems to be the one advised against but 402 was lovely, away from pool area and nice and private. The views from the hotel are incredible, you could sit in the bar terrace and admire view for hours and even catch a beautiful thunder and lightening storm at night. Location of hotel was fantastic, just a few minutes from Limone and the lake where you could get a boat to any of the other towns around the lake. Limone is a beautiful little town which is very busy during the day with day trippers but they all go around six in the evening as boats stop by six thirty. There are plenty of bars and restaurants for the people staying in Limone. No fast food restaurants, nobody pleading with you to eat in their restaurant, nobody try to sell you crap as you enjoy a drink, just peaceful, pretty and free entertainment for the public some nights -we had an opera on a boat one night and a brass band another night. Hotel splendid Palace provide entertainment about four nights in the week but if you don't like that kind of thing you can sit far enough away that you would not notice it. We hired a safe as we always do in hotels and forgot to use it as we felt so safe. There is a general air of niceness and happiness coming from the hotel. I will be back!!

Room Tip: There are about six rooms right in front of main swimming pool which could be annoying but they didn...

We stayed in this hotel for the 3rd time (over a period of about 10 years), and it still offered the same quality for everything: kindness, clean, quality of food, ... everything!
Even while traveling later in the season (September), hotel still provided animation for several evenings.
When staying at this hotel, don't forget to go for a walk up the hills next to the small stream that enters the lake at the beach, south of Limone (near ferry stop).

Room Tip: Level 1-3 is ok with breathtaking views of the lake Level 4 is at pool level, so it might be a good...

Just back from a weeks stay at the splendid palace hotel, the hotel , is spotlessly clean, and it is divided into two sections via a covered aisle, we were in room 504 and had stunning views over the lake and limone, food was ok and staff very helpful, the rooms were a little dated but clean, food was fine although you were served meat etc by the chefs, which I would've rather done this myself as sometimes they didn't give you very much, The reason I gave it an excellent was I really enjoyed it, the rep Gesteppio was good and we went on trips to Venice, Verona and The Dolomites, which were long especially to Venice, but worth the visit, the Lagotourist guide was brilliant and we had her on all 3 of our trips, her name was Aurora, Definitely Recommend a trip to Lake Garda And The Splendid Place although it took us 2 hrs from Airport And Back

Room Tip: When going on trips, go off from main shops and you will get things cheaper

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the stunning Hotel Spendid Palace. The views are the most breathtaking I have ever experienced. The friendly staff, from Reception right through to the girls cleaning the rooms are first class. Friendly, cheerful and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Superb selection of food and the free drinks with your meal is excellent. The rooms are beautifully clean and well appointed. Views from the balcony are just stunnig. The terrace from the reception and bar is one of the best places you could be - sit and enjoy that stunning view. We will most definitely visit this amazing place again.

Room Tip: All rooms are lake side, but a higher floor room has the clearest views above the trees.
