“Brilliant Hotel and resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Went to Limone on the 29 th June stayed at the Splendid palace hotel, what can I say except it was brilliant from beginning to the end, the hotel splendid palace was amazing our room overlooking lake Garda was fantastic our room was 022 which was right at the far end of the hotel which had a pool that if you we're not over that end you would not know it was there it was like having your own private pool which needed a code from the hotel to get in. Food was brilliant and the free drinks at night with dinner was brill. Cleaning staff cleaning our rooms what can I say except that the rooms every day were immaculate. Highly recommend the hotel and Limone.

Room Tip: The lower the room number the better the view and always worth paying extra for the balcony and lake...

We last visited this hotel in September and liked it so much we came back this June. This time we had room 415 which was much better than last time.We were at pool level but didn't have loungers right outside just the edge of the pool and a brilliant view for no extra money.Rooms 415 through to 411 are all great in this respect.Another good thing about room 415 was that it got cleaned very promptly every day.As last time we chose to sunbathe in the lovely lemon grove.Looking at reviews some people seem unable to find this.Step one get the door code from reception. Then walk down the steps at poolside, turn right and keep going till you see a doorway on your left with a Sun hotels sign adjacent.Use the code in the data lock then enjoy the lovely peaceful view away from the crowd by the main pool.Bliss. Food was wonderful, service similar to last year. Two ebullient waiters ,one called Antonio clearly has his favourite customers.Don't get me wrong I'm not bitter but what do you have to do to get in this man's good books?? The hotel offers WiFi at 10euros per week but if you have more than one device they will charge you another 5 euro.We would heartily recommend this hotel,a beautiful setting and a lovely relaxing place.

Room Tip: 411 to 415 and you won't get someone on a lounger right outside your room.

The view from Hotel Splendid Palace gave us the WOW experience and made us feel happy we had made the choice to go Limone. The hotel itself over looks Limone town on the right and Lake Garda in front of you with the stunning mountains as a back drop. At night the lake is lit up with the reflection of numerous lights around the lake and from Limone itself which add to the charm of the beautiful scene in front of you.
The Hotel lived up to it's reputation with spotlessly clean public areas and rooms. It was built in 1962 and the décor and style does reflect this. To us personally it was of secondary importance.
Yes the showers could be bigger and the décor more modern.
The ambience of the hotel was one of a warm welcome, friendly greetings from everyone and a feeling that nothing was too much trouble. Everyone worked hard and gave us excellent service.
The self service restaurant had it's peak times and was very busy during these periods. The food was varied and plentiful at the earlier part of meal times. If you left it late to dine in the evenings you may find some choices less available.
The bar staff were very pleasant and courteous perhaps lacking in experience mixing/presenting
cocktails...but on the whole gave a really good service.
The location of the Hotel was ideal for the ferry service- a five minute walk will take you there and into the town itself. The ferries run throughout the day and visit most towns and villages around the lake. A lovely way to travel on a hot day! The short distance to the town of Limone is down hill so be prepared to go up hill on the way back and up steps into the hotel grounds. There are some delightful shops, cafes, bars, the promenade and on Tuesday mornings a market .There is plenty to see, cobbled streets to wander through and great opportunities to buy ice cream!

Stayed here in June for one week, long drive from verona about two hours but worth it when we arrived, room Was on the first floor great view of lake and mountains, the shower was a bit small and the air condition did not really blow out cold air other guests thought this too, but it was not a serious problem, food good in hotel good choice free wine and beer or soft drinks , staff all friendly and helpful , entertainment in hotel was ok but on only about four nights , Limone a short walk away down some steps it was 32 degrees when we where there very hot and tiring walking back up hill, but wort it when we got back to our lovely hotel. Went on the wine tour not bad , also the tour of lake garda interesting , nice boat trips to Riva And Malchesne . We had to be out of our room by 10.00am when leaving a bit early I thought.

This hotel has an uninterrupted view of Lake Garda and all the bedrooms have the advantage of looking at the sunrise over the lake every morning. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. There is plenty of choice at breakfast and 'self service' so that you can indulge as much as you want. The evening meals were the disappointing part of the holiday for me because again although there was a lot of choice, I felt the 'mass' catering did nothing for the quality of the food provided. However, this was purely my opinion, as the other guests seemed to load their plates every night. The hotel is perfectly placed in Limone but I would suggest not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

Room Tip: No need all the rooms seem to have Lake views.

My fiancé and I stayed at the hotel in July 2012, the holiday was booked by my parents as a birthday gift. The hotel is situated at one end of limonè so easy to find when wondering around the beautiful town. The hotel was spotless!! We had a small issue with the room we was given on our arrival but after speaking with the staff we was moved rooms as soon as one became available. The staff and service was fantastic. Entertainment was very good. The food was delicious and plenty to chose from. One waiter at the restaraunt was our particular favourite and we often sat at one of his tables he waited on. The staff were very helpful when needed. We did not spend much time at the hotel due to excursions but when we did, it was lovely and relaxing. The hotel have two pools, one situated within the main hotel and the other is outside the hotel but password protected, password can be obtained from reception. The pools were very clean and there was plenty of sunbeds despite the time of year we went. We would definitely return to Hotel Splendid! Great location, service and amenities!! 5* :)

This was our first holiday to the Italian Lakes and so we had no preconceived ideas or anything to compare it with. The thing that hits you straight away about the hotel is the cleanliness - both the public areas and the rooms are spotless. The décor is somewhat dated with dark colours and old fashioned wallpaper in the bedrooms but tends to be in keeping with the era. The rooms have all the basic necessities - good storage space, small fridge but no kettle for tea or coffee. The bathrooms are very small and the shower cubicles tiny which could cause problems for larger people but functioned adequately. Room 306 does have a lake view but this is slightly obscured by the palms surrounding the outdoor swimming pool. Better views would be available in the higher rooms (floors 1 and 2) but these would suffer more from the noise of the bar/restaurant above them. Other reviewers have commented on the thin walls which is certainly the case especially when you have an incessant snorer in your adjoining room!!

The restaurant is somewhat chaotic with people constantly getting up to get food and drinks but we found that if you went in later in the evening after the initial rush things had quietened down although sometimes some of the food choices had gone. The food was of a high standard with plenty of choice to suit everyone - Italian dishes as well as more European choices. Sometimes the food was cooler than it should have been but this depended on the time you visited the restaurant. All drinks were free with the meals and the wine was to a reasonable standard.

We did not use the pools as they were cold but did notice that people were still reserving sun loungers around the outside pool before breakfast - sad people! The small pool in the secret garden was still cold but did have fantastic views and was generally quiet. Again the pools were extremely clean and the surrounding areas well maintained.

Entertainment was laid on most evenings with a dance troupe, singer and magician on offer. We preferred to wander into the town centre and try the different bars with superb views over the lake.

The only real complaint we have was the poor service in the bar. The waitresses seemed to prefer talking to each other at the bar than serving guests. One evening we waited 20 minutes to be served and gave up in the end.

In summary I would recommend this hotel although advise older people to be aware that it is situated on a hill and this involves a fairly strenuous walk back from the town centre.
