“Average hotel outside Sienna”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We stayed with here in June with a tour group of 18. The hotel was adequate, but many of our traveling companions had problems with the A/C. The weather was very hot, so the pool was a nice touch. The gardens surrounding the pool did not look like they had been weeded in over a month, but one afternoon we returned to find they had been. The rooms were on the small side, and the lighting in them was pretty poor. The staff was pleasant but not particularly helpful. The place was clean and comfortable, but in retrospect, the brochure looks a lot nicer than it actually was.

We wanted to stay for two weeks, but it has started as a nightmare. The room is small, called Junior Suite, but it is only a hotelroom with four beds. On the first evening, there was a wedding party for the whole night with live music. Nobody informed us from the hotel management about this and it is not on the internet page. We never would have come in this case. The hotel is also occupied by travelling groups. What a bad choice! Never again! Service people blamed me in the middle of the night when I pleased them to reduce the noise. A four stars hotel! Puuuhh....

Nice hotel in a quiet tuscany setting, a few km from Siena. Building is an old villa, frequently used for, weddings, etc. nonetheless the area is spacious and the celebrations are not bothersome.

Rooms: average but decent. Very clean. Fake french classic decor truly out of place. Do not expect Great finishes or luxurious bathroom. Bed is decent and so is the equipment (hairdryer, tv set, minibar).
Free wi fi earns them some points.

Facilities: good outdoor swimming pool with decks, lounges, etc. sits in the middle of the compound with rooms all around it.

Service : in general OK. We tried room service for sandwiches and it was spotless. Breakfast is again average, and selection of food is neither ample nor limited. Staff is available but not super attentive.

All in all a good alternative if you are looking for a decently priced place to stay in a beatiful area of tuscany. Competition is with higher tier B&B not with releais chateaux or more expensive resorts.

We were attending a wedding in Monteriggioni in Aug 2011 and booked Il Piccolo through an agent in Ireland. We were really impressed with the room and the pool in particular - both were of a 4-5 star standard and the service was excellent. The food in the hotel is on the expensive side but there are lots of restaurants in neighbouring villages and it's only a short drive from Monteriggioni which is a gorgeous location. Would definitely recommend for couples for a 3-4 night period.

We stayed one night on our way to another venue, we upgraded to a poolside room which was spotlessly clean and decorated in typical Italian hotel style. The staff were helpful and friendly, the pool area is very attractive. Breakfast was quite extensive for Italy with lovely fresh pastries and croissants which you could if you wish take back to your table outside your room.

We had one meal in the restaurant which was excellent.

Room Tip: Book a poolside room

Our group of 8 stayed here in early June 2011 on a cycling tour of Tuscan hill towns. This was the most "resorty" of the hotels we stayed at, but after a day of cycling, we really enjoyed relaxing in the pool with the water-jet loungers. The meals at the hotel were a bit pricey and not that inspiring, but they have an affiliated restaurant in the old town of Monteriggioni that serves up excellent food with a much broader menu. The hotel provides a shuttle van to/from the old town at a cost of €10 each way. Having a room on the pool side with doors opening right onto the patio was a nice touch and the air conditioning worked great. Others have spoken of the decor, which was a bit heavy and ornate, but we spent almost every waking hour outside so it wasn't really much of an issue.

Room Tip: Rooms at the ends of the wings would be quietest.
