What a treasure to find such a lodging site. Fabulous views, very quiet, hospitality extraordinaire ,absolutely,ohhhh......
Spacious room, top quality linens,aTuscany dream..... For a room selection you might ask for a room with a great unobstructed view. Trees obstruct some views. Gracious views in each direction. The breakfast is wonderful or an European style breakfast, wonderful, wonderful pastries as well as coffee. The price is unbelievably inexpensive ,yes Inexpensive, If the rate was ten fold would be great! Book ASAP and enjoy.......

Room Tip: Ask foe great view, book very early

Superb is not a word I use lightly. This Hotel is fantastic. While most hotels over promise and under deliver, Villa Montarioso does the opposite.

This wonderful villa in Tuscany is about 10 minutes from the beautiful town of Siena, Italy and located on the grounds of a Catholic Seminary. As soon as I got out of the car I was overcome with a sense of peacefulness. The Villa and the adjoining gardens are very peaceful and as hard as it is for an atheist like me to say, spiritual.

The rooms are simple but very comfortable, minimalist and modern. It is a very quiet hotel.

The only downside was the internet and breakfast. The internet was slow, and got slower in the evening. Luckily, we had a few films downloaded so we watched those instead of surfing the internet.

Next, the breakfast needs improving. The quality of the food wasn't great, not bad, but not great. It certainly did not make you want to eat more. Really IBIS quality. I would have gladly paid extra for something like Eggs Benedict or omelets... The breakfast needs to fit better with the hotel itself. The Hotel is amazing so the food needs to be amazing too.

The positives are as follows:

1.) Amazing helpful staff.
2.) Very clean and comfortable.
3.) Amazing views and the location itself.

I would love to stay there again.

Room Tip: They are all good!

Once upon a time, this property belonged to my husband's family, so it was a pleasure to stay and explore a part of his family history. The hotel is a little to the north of Siena at the start of the Chiantigiana road, with some parking on-site.

We knew we would arrive very late and received an email with full access instructions as reception is closed after 7pm, but we called to confirm and everything worked perfectly, with keys left at reception for us.

The hotel is in the villino where the fattore (estate manager) lived, while breakfast is served in a room in the main villa, now owned by the Vatican with a theology school. The bedrooms are typically Tuscan in their simplicity, although in modern minimalist style and have all you need for a place to stay with well functioning bathrooms, decent size rooms, free WiFi and if you are lucky, a city view in the distance. The buffet breakfast is plentiful with good choice. It doesn't pretend to be a luxury hotel but it has all you need, is comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a nearby bus service to the centre, although it does stop at about 8pm.

My father-in-law apparently used to tell my husband of the nightingales that sang in the park and after we arrived late at night, we were delighted to hear one sing for us! A perfect end to the day and we explored the park after breakfast before leaving for the centre.

We were looking for a villa with old world atmosphere and some charm. Having booked ahead and prepaid with no hope of refund, we stayed for the three days reserved but wanted to leave within minutes of arriving. This is not a hotel, by any stretch of the meaning of that word. At best, it is a B&B. More like a youth hostel because while we were there, for all three nights, so was an all boys soccer team. Lots of noise, running up and down stairs and generally making noise at all hours. Getting to sleep before midnight was impossible for me. The reception desk is closed at 7:30PM so you are on your own. Nobody to complain to while the problems were occuring. Of course, there was no noise during the day when staff were there.
The breakfast was poor. Coffee came from a vending machine. There were the standard sweet rolls but only white bread. Cereal and yogurt selections were very limited. No fruit. A package of what looked like hot dogs was placed in a warmer besides scrambled eggs.
No air conditioning, rooms were clean for the most part but our bed spread scarf was soiled. The shower was very small! The bed was comfortable. The room had a decent view but the grounds were stark and poorly attended. The pictures on Trip Advisor are terribly misleading. The building is on the grounds of a Catholic Church and was likely a nunnery or monastery at one time. Still has that stark and unadorned appearance. Bleak, really. And, the reception staff did not help. Untrained and amateurish youth. The lighting is grimly poor and makes matters worse with low-tech efficiency bulbs that wash out everything they "illuminate." Could be a 4 or 5 star property if managed well and upgraded to reasonable standards.

Hotel number four of our mammoth 3 week trek across Italy . We stayed for three nights. This was a lovely hotel, relatively easy to fine using our Tom Tom, very large room and bath room with a lovely view whilst sitting on the loo! Shower pressure was great, room was pitch black with proper shutters.

Staff were very helpful, we arrived after 11 pm for check in but an envelope was left for us with clear instructions of outr room and we just officially checked in the next day no probs. this hotel is near to may of the Tuscan villages and cities, we checked out Siena, san Gusme, San gimignano and we also went to Greve and some others for wine tasting, we did a cookery class too nearby for which i will write its own review. This hotel is perfectly located with ample free parking .

Breakfast was pretty decent as far as italian breakfasts go however the scrambled eggs and hotdogs were always cold by the time we went down. There is no burner under the hot plate which is disappointing but good spread of cereals, croissants, cakes and breads.

It's peaceful and located , with a car close , to a couple of restaurants and the motorway. We also got some clothes laundered but this was not cheap. Could do with a gardener just as a petty point to add but otherwise, Well recommended

Beautiful villa in the Tuscan hills just outside Siena (overlooking Siena from the hotel room). Remote and large ground with nice park around it.

We arrived late after official check-in hours and called ahead to the hotel to make sure we could still enter our room. The young woman was very friendly and made sure we could check-in by leaving a envelope with the key for us on the reception desk.

The hotel is very modern and has spacious rooms, extended and quality breakfast, very modern bathroom (although the shower cabin was somewhat older and small). No a/c but since the villa is located in the hills and the windows can be completely opened this is no problem.

The service was also very good. The young woman allowed us to check out later without being difficult. This allowed us to relax in the nice park on the hotel compound and enjoy the Italian sun somewhat. It's only a 10 minute drive from Sienna's old city! Go to this hotel for a romantic city break, as single person to enjoy time alone or as a family with children who can play on the grounds around the villa, The hotel is very nice to just linger for a day and the hotel staff is extremely nice and helpful.

It is a nice Villa with friendly hotel personal/ receptionist. They allowed us to store our bicycles in a seperate room. The rooms are very clean and wifi works. The breakfest is simple and toster did not work. The shower changed accedently the temprature and aircondition does not exists/does not work. For our last room the door seams to be dammaged. The hotel has plenty of parking places but the garage looks a bit scarry.
Despite this facts we consider the hotel as price sensitive alternative in nice toscanian environment/building with very friently personal.
