5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

My wife and i stayed Sept 26th to October 3rd. Booked through Thomas Cook on half board basis.Transfer from airport was by taxi which is included in price and also transfer back at end of stay. We arrived about 9-15 pm and were given a glass of ice cold real orange juice which was delicious. We were given the choice of a meal in the restaurant which was still serving or sandwiches sent to the room. We opted for the meal. The bags were taken to our room in the meantime. We came back to reception afterwards and were given a ride in one of the golf buggies to our room. The polite young man then showed us into our room and all the various switches/controls. Our room had a balcony view of the bay and was stunning. There are 4 restaurants and we used Olivinos for lunchtimes. Our included meals were breakfast and evening. Breakfasts were of a big variety and suited most tastes. Evening meals were the same with some nights following a theme. We were mostly satisfied with the food but felt quality could have been slightly better rather than trying to pander to all tastes and cultures.Drinks prices are what you would expect at a five star hotel. The Zen bar is visually stunning and puts on laid back entertainment most nights. Service from the staff was very good and the ladies who cleaned the rooms were brilliant. Two good size pools are available using fresh water are cleaned to perfection every day using high tech equipment. Plenty of sunbeds and parasols are there as well. There is a private beach owned by the hotel and there are sunbeds and parasols there as well and also beach huts. If like me you like snorkeling then the bay is perfect for that pursuit. A visit to Lindos is obviously a must and can be walked if not too hot or reached as we did by bus for Eu1-60. Taxis are available as well and the rate is fixed at 8 euros there, 6 return. We took an organised trip to Rhodes old town which was good and included a guide, a meal with 2 drinks and a harbour night cruise. We spent a lot of time hanging out by the pool near the beach and made good friends with Val and Pete from Guildford who were on their third visit to the hotel and Ron and Jean from Bristol. The weather was really hot but the pool cooled us off. Not too many people there and no children made this lovely and quiet. Location is a bit isolated but the beauty of it all compensates for that. We would go back..no hesitation.

Just gor back from the aquagrand. Everything about the hotel was perfect for our honeymoon. From the welcome drink and staff on hand to help with everything to the pool that was never busy. The food was of a good standard for a buffet although breakfast did get a little boring. Evening meals were great though. We stayed by the pool most days which was quiet and peaceful. The beach was a little disappointing but we knew before we went it was a pebble beach rather than sand. Some other reviews have said the drinks were expensive, the cocktails were a little pricy but the beer / wine / spirits were reasonable. Choice of two restaurants for lunch too as we stayed on hb basis. All the staff were fantastic and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We did go to Lindos one day, it was too busy and touristy for us and we couldn't wait to get back to the hotel and jump in the pool. Perfect holiday

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice, we had an exclusive (standard) room and while the private pool rooms look ni...

This could be one of the world's best hotels with very little effort; but at present it falls a little short. The fact it is child free makes it totally restful and beyond compare. The setting is fantastic just outside Lindos ( too far to walk but the taxis are fixed fare and cheap so very easy). We had a room with a private pool which was well worth it although does encourage one to be very lazy! Buffet breakfast was superb, dinner is a buffet unless you go to the a la carte restaurant but the buffet changes every night and is really very good with excellent choice and variety. The biggest problem with the hotel is the management who are noticeable by their absence. The water in the pools including the private pools is chilled beyond comfort and makes a plunge in the pool akin to a swim off Scarborough! I am sure the management will say this is to make it refreshing but fail to notice that all the pools are empty most of the time. If we want to be refreshed we will go to the bar and Olympic/professional swimmers are in the minority – we asked three times for the chiller to be tempered but were ignored. The staff are all extremely unhappy and we had three staff members on three separate occasions complaining about their conditions – they are not even issued with pens to give to guests to sign bills! This does not make for great service, there is no pool or beach service in actuality although it exists in theory; if you can make so with one drink a day every 2nd or 3rd day then that is the best you can expect.
We had room 610 which was fine except the sun gets cut off in the afternoon due to the edge of the wall from the next apartment – if you want lots of sun ask for rooms 611, 612,613 or 614
The beach at the hotel is pebbly so difficult to walk on, however if you walk 50 yards to the next hotel their beach is sandy and makes for much easier paddling/swimming.

We stayed at the AquaGrand resort mid September and had a fantastic time. Upon arrival, we were greeted with icy fresh orange juice..a refreshing delight after a half hour transfer. All the staff were so incredibly helpful and welcoming and this continued throughout the holiday. Delicious aray of breakfast and evening meal banquet (we stayed half board), catering for all tastes and dietary requirements. We used the spa facilities, excellent. We would recommend, if you can strech your budget, to make it a very special occassion for you to book a suite with a private pool. We had one with a sea view..what a luxury, we felt very spoiled! The room felt so spacious and clean with beautiful, well maintained decor.
What an asset to the company both Mr Panos and Mary are, we couldn't have asked for better care.
We booked a glass bottom boat trip and we didn't even have to leave the hotel, it picked us up from the hotels jetty!
A true 5 star experience, we would definitely return. Thank you

Room Tip: Book a sea view with private pool if your budget allows

It was the most wonderful holiday, the staff were friendly and efficient. The architecture of the hotel was superb, relaxing and generous in its space. The interior fitting were a joy to see. A particular highlight was the private dinner on the jetty arranged by Panos and Kerasia. It was a sumptous meal, impeccably served, brilliantly organised. If you have an occasion which is special to you, this is a fantastic grand finale.
Special thanks to the reception staff, Kerasia, Manager of Ocean View Restaurant and of course Paxos the Butler. - Diane & Derrick

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main pool are sunnier

Spent an amazing week here in the middle of September. Booked through Thomas Cook and were pleasantly surprised that we got a private taxi transfer from the hotel (were expecting a coach). Arrived at 6am local time but found the hotel had provided sandwiches as we were most likely to sleep through the breakfast service.

Hotel is luxurious. Adults only which was great - especially round the pool areas. The food (we went half board) was excellent with a constantly changing dinner menu featuring different cisines and show cooking. The Zen bar was great - cocktails were varied and they don't stimp on the alcohol and the staff were very friendly.

We had a lovely, quiet, relaxing holiday and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Well worth the money!

Top tip - Lindos is a 30 min walk away - get the local bus there (for around 1 Euro 40) but walk back (as it's downhill all the way to the hotel) esp. in the evening as you can watch the sun set while you strolling back.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room.

One of the issues with travelling abroad when the kids go back to school is the sudden realisation that the pre-school screamers are on the plane, its a great pity that our flights cannot be adult only like our hotels.
Lets get the bad news out the way first. We arrived at the hotel at about 21:30 hrs as the restaurant was closed we were told that we would be brought a sandwich to our room. This is a 5 star hotel so we expected a nice plate of sandwiches with salad, crisps etc. but no,4 cling film wrapped dry cheese and ham sandwiches arrived. Totaly uneatable and vile.
And that is my only complaint.
The food at the other meals, we had half board, is very good ,a great choice is available at each meal and you can always find something to wet your taste buds.
My only concern about the food is the very undercooked bacon. This seems to be an issue at all Greek and Spanish hotels but not an issue as the chef cooking the eggs will crisp the bacon up for you.
The pancakes are ready made and contain either honey or chocolate, not to my taste but the staff will get you plain ones if you want them and great they were too.
If, as we did,you miss your evening meal on the first night you can see the hotel butler who sits in reception who will arrange for you to have lunch on your departure day.
We had a pool room number 414,. one issue here is that the hotel has sea view and sea front rooms we had a sea view, great room in the sun from 10:00 am to 17;30 pm well shielded from the other patrons so real privacy. The rooms are well laid out and very spacious and the pool most welcome in the heat of the day. Instead of individual sun lougers your have a large double bed configeration on the patio, very comfortable and in full sun.
Sea front rooms do not have the sun later in the afternoon so if you can ,get a sea view room.
The staff were great no issues at all with any of them , very friendly and helpful, esp the two girls in the bar, just great.
The entertainment is just fine, dancers who were great, on every Sunday, a very good pair of singers on Saturday with odd appearances throughout the week by various intumentalists.
Drink prices are as per a 5 star hotel but not outlandish, and the excellent wine available at dinner was very good.
The hotel seemed to be empty as the main pool seemed to have about 12 patrons around it at any time of the day, but then you realise that there is an abundance of pool beds and seats all around each pool so you would never turn up and not have a bed available.
This is a very modern hotel with a decor that reflects the ethos of the designers, its well worth having a look around the public rooms as there are some real gems in them, great chairs etc.
All rooms have to be vacated by 12:00hrs so we booked another room for 5 hours as we were departing at 18:00hrs. this is charged at 12 euros per hour , not cheap.
Overall this was a very good holiday in a very good hotel which I am sure you would enjoy if your decided to book it.
One further point, we visited Lindos to do some shopping, Dont bother its tat with only about 6 decent shops in the whole village. A real waste of time and effort.

Room Tip: Book sea view and not sea front more sun on your patio each day.
