“Xenones, Lindos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Just back from a week's stay in a family apartment (B8) with my two children (aged 14 and 11). We LOVED it! The arch and brickwork give this dwelling the 'WOW' factor. It was spacious and air conditioned. It is quite dark but we welcomed this after a day in the sunshine and the roof-top terrace is just across the stunning, pebbled courtyard which the apartment opens onto. Many an evening was spent roof-top dining and playing cards. The view was beautiful! We had two kittens who waited outside our door, feral cats being a huge part of Lindos and I'd much rather see them than rodents! Lily who looked after the apartments was adorable and we always arrived back to find our home, spotless. Andy very kindly allowed us to keep the apartment for as long as we needed on our day of departure as we had a late flight time. This allowed us to enjoy our last day of what was a fantastic holiday. If I was to recommend improvements for the apartment, I'd say upgrade the kettle and towels, replace the faulty sink plug and add wine glasses to the crockery. On the whole, this accommodation was in a prime location with a charismatic ambience and I'd hurry back. Lindos itself is compact, friendly and feels very safe. We had great fun hiring kayaks on the beach and 'Mare Mare' did the best calamari with tzatziki Make sure you eat at the Agostinos Restaurant, just up the hill from Xenones. Thanks Andy and Lily! Wish I'd got a chance to see inside the Lindian family apartment in D block too, tho' I think B8 would be hard to beat! Angela, Erin and Jamie :-)

Stayed with partner in studio C11 at end of September and we were very pleased with our decision having had dilemma between this and more conventional large modern hotel outside Lindos itself.
We received prompt responses to our emails (having taken note from other Tripadvisor reviews) in advance of our late arrival including clear instructions on where we could park (it is a 5-10 minute maximum, walk from the public car park-we found free spaces between the white lines at the end of the car park every day of our stay), instructions for shower use, wifi password, etc. Some road names or other land marks on the map provided of Lindos would have been really helpful as our navigation was not great after flight then 1 hour drive in hire car late at night but we did find our way eventually. The room was very clean and extras like hair dryer, iron and ironing board, some toiletries, and free air conditioning (which worked well) were really appreciated. The daily cleaning was discrete but efficient. Although we were made aware that reception was not open full time, Andy was present both times I went and was polite and helpful. When I asked about check out times I was told we could check out as late as we liked which made our last day much more relaxed than it often can be with other hotels. The communal roof terrace was lovely with excellent views over Lindos and a nice place to relax. Wifi speed was variable but it was a bonus to have at all, and free! The kitchenette had fridge, 2 plate hob, 2 pans and crockery and cutlery for 2: adequate for minor holiday cooking although if I returned I would take tea towel, dish cloth/sponge and a few other basics (maybe this is standard for self catering in this area). We would definitely return if staying in Rhodes again. This was an excellent base from which to explore Lindos (walking distance to plentiful restaurants, beaches, shops, the Acropolis) and the rest of the island. We booked through On The Beach web site. Would book independently in future as think this would save around £100 per person.

Room Tip: Communicate with the owner if any special requests or queries. C11 was good.

Dear Guests,

Thanks a lot for choosing our small property for your last stay in Lindos.

Very glad that you have enjoyed your stay and would certainly like to see you back soon.

By the way, one tip. Lindos Village path names, house numbers have not being used for ages now. Thus in fact they are just there, but do not make sense. No street names in the village or house numbers valid unfortunately.

All he best for this coming winter.

Kind regards,

Everyone has their off days and I think what went wrong could go wrong in the first days of our holiday. Some misunderstanding meant that we struggled to find the apartments late at night.
We are cat fans however I believe that the previous guests must have fed the local resort cats as we had at least four at our door daily. The a/c was also leaking regularly, and there was an issue with the water supply. With a 2 year old in tow and the apartment also being down some quite awkward steps for a buggy, this provided us with a stressful 24 hours!
Now for the positives.... upon emailing Andy the owner that evening we met with him the following day and all was sorted, he was very apologetic, genuinely so, and we were moved to a different apartment.
The apartments are very clean, Lilly the cleaner although spoke little English, is very helpful, polite and is obviously is very dedicated to her job. Xenones is very very close to the main sites of lindos, a 5 minute walk to the beautiful St. Paul's bay and only 10 minutes from the main square and do offer good value for money. Free wifi, beach towels, toiletries and daily cleaning are all benefits as well. You can actually get wifi on St. Paul's beach for free as well which is handy and is a beautiful spot to base yourselves for the day.
In summary these are good budget apartments with a fantastic location in the stunning friendly village of Lindos with a passionate and caring owner!

Brilliant week's stay at Xenones. Great location right in the centre of Lindos but quiet and relaxing! The studio was immaculately clean with a great shower, comfy beds and pillows (a first in my experience of Greece). The terrace was great with a beautiful view of the Acropolis. Although we did not see the owner he was easily contactable by email and quick to respond to any requests. I will definitely be back and would thoroughly recommend to anyone who wishes to be self sufficient whilst on holiday. If you want to be waited on hand and foot then this is not the place for you - try one of the large hotels on the main road - and you can be pampered to the sound of traffic!

Room Tip: Room B7 was lovely with a nice big bathroom. Also had the opportunity of seeing the family room in...

You really can't fault these apartments, fantastic location close to the beach and 5 minutes from village centre, yet very quiet. Great showers, pretty well equipped kitchenette. They were spotlessly clean, the wonderful Lilly does a great job. And now the extras ....
Free wifi (saving us €9 from last year)
Free air con (saving us at least €90)
Free beach towel (lost mine on a boat trip)
Free safe (saving about €15)
Free late checkout, we were told to "take as long as we needed", amazing.
We were met on arrival (about midnight), because we'd emailed, as requested in advance, we also felt that Andy thought about our requests and we were given C10, it has a small terrace and access to the large one with great views.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Andy as we were out early at the beach everyday but he replied to emails almost instantaneously and when we had a small electrical problem, we had an electrician arrive within 30 minutes.
Thanks Andy we had a wonderful holiday, and we will be back

the hotel has a nice location in the city of Lindos. However, we were extremely disappointed with our appartement: the bathroom was extremely small and the room was dark and grey . We had two windows one had to stay closed because it was towards the street (it was groundfloor)and the other was facing the yard where everybody was passing. As regards the services, most of the time there was around just one lady that didn't speak English so every time we wanted to ask something we couldn't communicate. You should also pay attention and always send an email to announce your arrival because it can happen that there is nobody to the reception.

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor appartements

Dear Guests,

We would like to thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to share your experiences in public.

We are sorry we have not managed to fullfill your expecations.

Let us point out though that:

1. Apart from the lovely housekeeper, Lilly, who is beloved by all of our guests and works hard daily, iam also attending around 8 hours per day in my small office in Block A and iam also reachable 24/7 on my mob or email.

2. The provided to you room, is a spacious room, nice coloured, with a small bathroom due to the restrictions of Archeological authorities and Unesco which do not allow us to make major renovations (including rebuildings). The specific room shares a beautiful large terrace with only 2 other rooms (the last one month i have not seen any of our guests sitting there as they prefer exploring our beaches and village). Our property is so quiet and you will rare see sb walking around as our guests usually going out. As for the window facing the street, this is not a street but a small path where not even cars can be driven and again very rare you will see sb.

3. As for the services offered, you better make your homework more careful next time, as what we advertise is village accommodation and not a hotel. Studios and Aprtments complexes in Lindos do not have permanent staff (24/7) (especially those with out outlets) although in our case we are always around.

As you stated, its obligadory that all of our guests email us with their arrival time to avod inconveniences and delays with their check in and this is sth typical in Lindos and most of the guests recognise the need for this.

We believe that it would fit you better a hotel or resort rather than a family run village studios complex.

Thanks for staying with us and we hope to be able to visit again our beautiful village Lindos.

Kind regards,

Andy Efstathiou

Having stayed for one week in July, we would certainly recommend the Xenones. Our apartment was not as basic as we were expecting and was certainly a cut above our previous experiences in Greece. Indeed, it had a lovely 'boutique' feel to it. Our room had a fridge but no cooker, not that we intended to do any cooking during our stay - and what it lacked in cooking facilities it more than made up for in cushions. We had never seen so many in a room! The outside spaces are beautifully laid out and extremely well kept, with lovely views across Lindos from the terrace. We found Andy to be extremely helpful and accommodating, including re jigging room allocations to enable us to have a late check-out. A simply delightful stay!
