Visited as a couple 26th June for one week. Upon arrival we were allocated Bungalow 83 family room. I was sceptical about the location of the bungalow as it was about 15 paces from the pool bar and, whilst they tell you you have an uninterrupted sea view (quite correctly so) it direclty faces the very busy main road from the airport to Rhodes town. The bungalow itself could not be faulted - there were no signs of any shoddy workmanship and was decorated very modern with all chrome fittings in bathroom and of course an extra room divided by partition doors. These doors when closed did minimise the road noise and we did not experience any problem with this. On 2 nights we were kept awake by entertainment untl 2.30 am at the two bars below - Yaanis and The Surf Bar - but, hey, we were on holiday and this didn't cause us a problem either. However, we were in a family room designed for couples with young children so it could be a different story for those travellers. So, all in all, the location of the bungalow was absolutely perfect for us. The staff work tirelessly to keep the complex clean and tidy and I was very surprised at the level of this. Our bedding and towels were changed daily and the room attendant, like all staff we encountered, was very pleasant and helpful. We ended up booking All Inclusive because it was a good deal with Jet2 and we were unable to book this holiday without being AI - the same for the room - the family room was all that was available to us. We wished to have accomodation close to Rhodes town without being in Rhodes town itself. We did not expect to utilise the AI facility as my expectations of 4* greek was very low. However...........absolutely nothing to complain about. Yeah, ok, so the food could have been in any international hotel and you wouldnt particularly know you were in Greece but that was to be expected. As for the drinks, we didn't really use this facility much as we prefer to buy our own branded drinks and enjoy these on the balcony but the drinks we did have during the day were absolutely fine. We did not partake in any of the entertainment, however it did appear that the Animation Team worked very hard at this. We, personally, never experienced any queueing at either the restaurant or bars but again I would repeat that we did not use the bar facility of an evening and so I cannot speak of what the queue situation was like then. We only required sunbeds on 2 days and, yes, we did do the 'if you can't beat them, join them' situation to get the required sunbeds near our room but only because we only wanted them for 2 days out of 7. There appeared to be ample sunbeds around and if they were to put anymore out then the place would be overcramped. I guess they assume that not everybody wants a sunbed every day - maybe I am being a bit niaive as we only spent 2 days around the hotel all day but maybe that is what people who book all inclusive expect to do. As we were in a bungalow we experienced very little of the hotel itself and the only thing I would say looked 'tired' was the seating around the reception area - this could do with being updated I think. I appreciate that people can experience very different holidays visiting the same place but having looked at some of the reviewers photographs I can honestly say we didn't see any of the rundown areas shown in them - I did notice that most of the rundown photographs were taken in 2012 and it may well be that a lot has been sorted for the 2013 season but I can only review on our experience. I am pleased we visited when we did because the last 2 days of our holiday it suddenly became extremely busy and I suspect that is when the 'queueing' may start. Would we visit again? If we were allocated a family room and it was before high season, then yes we probably would. We had previously stayed at the other end of Ixia, again as a means of a gateway to Rhodes town, but we much preferred the Mareblue as it was 1.5 miles walk into Rhodes along a lovely pleasant walkway. Nothing much in Ixia itself and other than the location to Rhodes town we probably would return to Ixia. All in all, a great value holiday for us. Please feel free to ask about anything I have not covered.
