“Elite Suites are LOVELY!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Me and the Hubby stayed in the Elite Suites from 17th October to 24th October 2012.

We booked a seaview room with private pool for a week while visiting Rhodes for my sisters big Greek wedding!

The suites are amazing, so peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are clean and well maintained and I just loved the different lighting you can control for comfort.

The staff in the suites are so kind, friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Everyday the rooms are cleaned, and little treas left for when you return.

I used the spa facilities quite a bit, the 'black pool' is so relaxing and tranquil. The all over body Swedish massage was also amazing and very relaxing. I had a pedicure and used the jacuzzi and sauna etc in the spa, really really nice!

We were on a bed and breakfast board basis, and went down to the restaurant most mornings, it was so lovely, tasty, fresh and varied. The hubby enjoyed a full fried breakfast where I had smoked salmon, cheeses, cold meats. One day we missed breakfast so we ordered room service which was a nice treat! Too much food, very good standard and quality.

My only negative comment, which is no fault of the hotel, is that we didn't have much sun on our pool area, which meant we couldn't sit out. We used the 'black pool' instead and it was lovely, but just meant that there wasn't much point in having a private pool as we didn't use it.

My favorite aspect of the rooms was the bathroom, HUGE rain shower separate to a large, deep bath tub! lots of lovely complementary toiletries! I'm so easily pleased ;o)

All in all - a lovely stay, we were made to feel very welcome and would most certainly return!

I am struck by the stream of extremely positive reviews here. Most of what’s said I agree with, but felt there are a few negatives you need to weigh up to judge whether this is the right place for you.

Positives:

The suites are lovely, bright, modern, well laid out. We were pleased to be upgraded to a plunge pool suite ( there seem to be more with than without pool so it’s a good bet, though the lowest level with pools probably have less of a view than the level without pools which are higher up).

Generous large fruit bowl and wine on arrival, various food and drink items arrive daily with water. Big bottles of Bulgari toiletries in a well laid out bathroom with separate shower and 2 basins.

Newspapers and some snacks available in the Suites reception daily, so we used those as a light lunch option , read the papers and were able to skip paying for a lunch. Good breakfast with cooked to order hot food.

There is a separate black tiled pool for the Suites, the most modern and best for swimming laps, and as its black its slightly warmer than the others. But the seating area around it feels a bit of a pen and is not well maintained. We preferred the main hotel adults only pool which was never busy.

As our package contained a free upgrade to half board in the Varkarola restaurant I wasn’t too cost critical, but I’d judge it as very good for mass market resort catering rather than truly at an international 5 star level of food. It does pall a bit by the end of a whole week and doesn’t have much Greek feel.

Negatives:

This is not a separate small boutique hotel though tries to emulate one. You never quite overcome the big ugly old fashioned concrete main Amathus hotel which you are attached to, unless you stay in your suite. The main hotel is dull and unattractive. We used the buffet once for a change of scene for dinner but regretted it, as it was the worst kind of mass market buffet with overheated overcooked vats of bland unappealing fare.

End of season and it shows. The upkeep is lacking as they are about to close. The elite suite sitting and pool area has got muddy and much of the grass eroded and not tended. The wooden decking is splitting and badly needs fixing and restaining. The staff numbers are hugely reduced due to falling guest numbers, so glasses aren’t collected and you see staff offering drinks very infrequently.

The beach was a big disappointment. The ‘sandy beach ' they have tried to add to the stones has become a muddy area, then you have big pebbles to negotiate to reach the water. The separate Suites sitting area is right in front of the road in the most noisy location so you certainly won’t want to sit in it. Before we left the staff were dismantling all the main loungers from their stretch of beach, making it unusable anyway.

There are no viable walks from the hotel. You can only walk on the busy main road and there’s nowhere attractive along either direction, just closing up cafes and inferior looking hotels and apartments. We missed the option of morning/evening walks which we have enjoyed from other beach hotels elsewhere. You need to be content to stay in the resort or catch a bus/cab to somewhere more scenic.

The restaurant entertainment was painfully inept. Recorded music would be better than the ill tuned singer pianist who played as many wrong as right notes. Once was funny, but nightly got wearing. The widely advertised special theme nights are cancelled at end of season, although the tv channel in room and in all the main hotel lifts still promotes them and on check in we were told the barbecue night was on - it wasn't, but we weren't informed.

We found the spa hugely disappointing. We don’t go for individual treatments but do usually like to use the communal facilities like pool, Jacuzzi, sauna etc which look good in the brochures. We thought the pool dingy and it looks out to the backside of the drink and snack serving pool bar, hardly the calming holistic sense the clever pictures give. The Jacuzzi was tepid and has no handrail so it’s pretty tricky getting in and out. One sauna was out of order and the other had a v dangerous exposed hot brazier with glowing red elements in a poor state of order placed very close to where you may sit. The ugly sign stuck to the door ordering you to keep the door shut looked tacky too. The changing rooms are stupidly placed so your naked self is exposed to passers by whenever anyone opens the door. And the locker keys wouldn’t work so people were leaving their things in open lockers which didn’t feel entirely safe. We didn’t go a second time as it just didn’t have a nice feel at all.

The main road may or may not bother you. The suites with garden area would be worst affected as they are closest to the road. It can be heard from the main pools and sitting areas , especially from the beach which is a great shame. You judge if it would bother you. I wouldn’t want to pick a hotel with a busy road so close between hotel and beach again. It detracts from the attempt to create the sense of luxury and seclusion which the suites are aiming at.
I suspect this and the mediocre main hotel which looms over the suites is why the other 2 Amathus hotels in Cyprus are designated as Leading Hotels of the World but this one isn’t.

So it’s good in many ways, but geographical factors which the hotel can’t do much about, and upkeep issues which it can, mean its 4 stars not quite 5 from me. Maybe in full season the staffing and upkeep are better. It did have a clear feel of closing up shop as the charter flights stop at the end of October although it was still very hot.

Room Tip: Higher up levels for better view. Lowest level with gardens will get road noise

We spent 11 nights in October at the Elite Suites and loved every minute of it. We travelled with our teenage daughter and 6 year old son and the suites and hotel catered fantastically for all of us. It was the last week before the end of the season and so the hotel was relatively quiet yet everything was still open so we had the best of both worlds!
The rooms are exactly as they are portrayed in the brochures and web site and are beautifully maintained. We had two garden/pool suites which suited us as the children could hop between pools.. the road noise didn't bother us at all... However if it was just myself and hubby then we would choose the suites higher up for the views. The lovely gifts are plentiful and are such a nice touch. It was my birthday when we were there and I received a bottle of Champagne and a delicious cake, thank you!
My husband , daughter and I also had the 5 day Spa Package and thoroughly enjoyed our various treatments which were such good value too.
The private hotel beach is very well maintained and the Suites have their own section too, the water is crystal clear but take beach shoes as the pebbles are a little unforgiving.
As many other guests before us have mentioned the service is exceptional in all areas and the hotel staff are it's biggest assets. We mainly used the Varkarola Restaurant as it was quieter and more intimate than the Iliades which gave the buffet option. The food was delicious at both dinner and breakfast. Stefanos and Leonidas are utterly charming and run their team with such efficiency. All the restaurant staff are so friendly and give great service at all times.
A huge thank you must go to Konstas from the pool bar for making days by the pool a joy, especially for our son who loved going and choosing his milkshakes!
I could keep going in more detail but would only be repeating what many others before me have written! We have never yet returned to the same holiday destination but October at the Elite Suites may just become a tradition for us...
Thank you to all for a wonderful time..we will be back!

We stayed in the Elite Suites, just along from the main hotel. Most suites had a plunge pool. The rooms were lovely. They were situated high in a mountain and the view was great. We had complimentary wine on arrival and picky bits to eat, very nice. We ate in the a la carte restaurant which was for Elite Suite guests. The staff and service was excellent. The menu was very good and the food was cooked exceptionaly well.Unfortunatly we was unaware of the main hotel closing down last weekend and the suites this weekend. The pool bar also closed. The only bar which was open was in the main building from 6pm to 1am. Unfortunately because the hotel season finishes this weekend there wasnt many holiday makers so the atmosphere was non existant. Probably very different in main season. Would recommend this hotel but check when the season finishes and steer clear of then.

Room Tip: All suites have really good views and decor lovely. Very large rooms.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay at the Elite Suites. We are extremely pleased to read you have enjoyed your room and all the exclusives services our Elite Suite guests receive.

Regarding your comments for the closing of the Amathus Hotel, please note that it is a separate hotel within the same area. Most of our Elite Suites guests prefer to use the facilities of the Elite Suites because of the exclusivity they offer.

I hope you will choose to stay again with us during high season in order to experience a completely different atmosphere. I look forward to welcoming you back to our Elite Suites in the near future.

The Elite Suites at Amathus Beach are exactly that. The staff are ever attentive, the spa is marvelous the suites themselves a pleasure to call home for 10 days. The A la Carte menu is good and the service charming. This is a great hotel for an end of season chill, I would highly recommend the elite suites at this hotel. Whilst I make a point of not going to the same resort twice and so therefore am highly unlikely to come again, I would certainly visit the sister hotels in Limassol or Pathos but beware, Amathus Hotels Division, Rhodes has set the bar at a very high level, to match this experience will take some doing.

Room Tip: The garden Elite Suite appartments suffer a bit from road noise. The first floor elite suites have...

We stayed at the Elite Suites at the Amathus Beach Hotel, it was an amazing experience.
The staff were very friendly, the food was excellent, we ate in the a la carte restaurent, the hotel grounds were clean and tidy, there are many swimming pools you could chose from. Had a complentary manicure and pedicure in the spa which was lovely. Plenty of sun beds, infact there was nothing I would have changed or they could have done better, had a great chill out week, would recommend it to anyone, would definately go back again or perhaps try there sister hotels in Cyprus.

Room Tip: We had an Elite Suite, I think they are all great, we had one without a plung pool, which was not a...

Amazing hotel, very beautiful and new. the staff were amazing, especially the receptionist named Elena - she's one of the best !
we had our honeymoon in this hotel in mid october (15-21/10/2012) in a suite on the second floor right infront of the sea and with a private pool in the room.
the rooms are AMAZING and very luxurious, the hotel is spoiling it's guests every day with lots of cool stuff for free and it was really nice and yummi :)
the staff are really nice and helpful.
there are several pools in the hotel - we went only to the suites pool because it was quieter than the other ones but there were all nice and clean.

the location of the hotel is really comfortable. the sea is 1 minute walk from the hotel and the city of Rhodes (the old one and the new one) is only 5-7 mintes drive by taxi = which is exactly 8 Euros for one way.

the spa is amazing ! very clean and beautiful, there is a Hammam, Jacuzzi, Sauna and etc.
we took two kinds of massages in the spa - Swedish Massage and Indian head Massage. they were both nice, not more than that. the good thing is that it was really cheap for a spa massage.

overall, we realllllly enjoyed the place and would definitely go back there if we'll go back to Rhodes. it was a really good experience.

Room Tip: i would really recommend taking the suites with the private pool, they are much bigger, nicer and de...
