“Bit disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2012

Went on Trip Advisor recommendation...but just goes to show that we can have different views of the same place. Liked the location...but as the ground floor tapas area was full we were directed upstairs...which had just one other couple so the atmosphere was zero. Partner had steak which was ok...I only wanted a starter, melon and Iberian ham, but the waiter said the melon was a bit hard, so I went for white asparagus instead. It was very watery and bland.....think I should have taken my chances with the hard melon!! There were also some additions to the bill which we hadn't agreed and which were unwelcome. Elderly waiter was attentive though.

“Authentic street tapas, served with character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

Dropped in on this interesting-looking spot whilst wandering Jerez one evening. A few tables dot the street outside, these seating quite a few local characters and loud parties making merry. Good atmosphere. Main waiter was a character himself, bluff and loud and bossy - he steered us towards what he thought we ought to choose (always a good sign) - and then cut me off when he thought I was ordering too many plates (and even better sign!).

Tapas highlights were:
Seasoned Fish
Spiced roe
Kidneys in Pedro Ximenez

Good sherries, appropriately chilled, the obligatory Cruzcampo on tap and quick, serious-faced service completed the evening.

Loved it.

“There are so many places better than this!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2011

Firstly, tables outside are on a busy road. We were made to feel like the waiter was doing us a huge favour by letting us sit there. We ordered some tapas but not all of it came. We queried this and it arrived but we were charged extra. It is really cheap (€1.80 for a glass of really nice red!) but the waiter couldn't wait for us to leave and couldn't have been more unhelpful. There are loads of places much better than this around plaza del arenal.

“established local food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2010

During warm days it is nice to sit outside watching the world go by in this busy street called Por Vera with the beautiful trees running the entire length. Opposite you can see the well heeled disappear into Gaitan or the ill entering the 24 hours pharmacy. Meanwhile you have a recommendation from the waiter , maybe its some nice flat fish - lenguada - or maybe something more exotic. Take your time and decide without haste. Enjoy a leisurely lunch especially and you will be happy. And the bill will be not hurting too much !

“Relax and enjoy the Jerez way of life”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2009

A well known bar/restaurant that also has a couple of tables outside on the street...and old fashioned style decor but quite typical with lots of choice for food and a reasonably good wine list.
Sit on the outside tables (if you can get one) - accept what the waiters advise are the best dishes on the day -have a good bottle of wine and just watch the world go by...
