“fabulous spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014 via mobile

Wandering to the top end of the old town and just round the corner from the Parador we came across Torre de Sande. It was lunch time and we sat outside to take in the ambiance of the surroundings. The choice of tapas are unique and very healthy. The food and service was first class. If you order a glass of wine you are also given a complimentary tapa to accompany it. Highly recommended!

“Lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

We walked in off the street, attracted by all the people enjoying what looked like sophisticated tapas. We decided to lunch in the main restaurant which opened out to a small interior garden complete with a male peacock! The setting was delightful No-one spoke English, but we got by with our pidgin Spanish. The food was chic, beautifully presented with small portions of several vegetables, and very tasty. It is slightly pricier than the usual restaurants, but worth every penny. I would go back any time as there were lots of delicious things on the menu.

“First class local food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Came across the restaurant by chance wandering in the old town. Sat is a small indoor part but with a full length window the length of the dining room looking onto a lovely grassed courtyard, with peacock watching us eat. We found the service excellent (although there were only three tables occupied) with the waiter displaying a lot of local knowledge. Ate Carpaccio with foie gras and red berries to start and then a meat dish each (port fillet and deer) in a very rich wine sauce, one with poached pear the other with red berries. Surprisingly light. Ask for salt - three types (smoked, with ash and sea salt) amazing. Wine was reasonably priced and good although they do have very expensive wines too. Highly recommended and a change from the normal tourist offerings.

“Great food, great location, regular service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

The food is WONDERFUL and the location is great, especially on a beautiful summer evening!!! But expect to be sitting there all night as the service is quite slow and sometimes a little grumpy :(

“Modern but fussy tapas in good setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

This tapas bar and restaurant in a side street off one of the tiny squares in the historic centre seems like a great find. However, the tapas are slightly pretentious with drizzles of, "jus", sprigs of rosemary and flowers on the plate. If you want a change from the traditional dishes you cangear in this area then, fine but for us it seemed as though this place was trying to belong to a city centre rather than providing hearty, regional choices. Being surrounded by wonderful sandstone historic buildings added something to our lunch. Each dish cost around €5 .
