I am being to loose faith in some of the restaurant reviews on trip advisor, we live in a city that revolves around food culture and regularly eat out, but when I read poor reviews of places like El Figon it really makes me wonder. Caceres is a regional capital, not Sevilla or Barcelona, and we just had lunch there, it's a Monday in the off season. It was terrific. We had soup, husband had veal with anchovies and I had trout. Dessert we shared the fig ice cream, coffee, port and wine. I can assure you this was excellent, fresh, nicely presented and served by professional and caring wait staff. The criticism that they don't speak English is extremely naive, I can assure you nobody in my local city would be expected to speak Spanish to the tourists that dine there. The question should be as a tourist what's your Spanish like? We would recommend El Figon, thank you.
