We visited this castle in december and it was quite cold up there. Castle is huge and various, many movies were filmed there. E.g. Nosferatu wampire. Enjoy it!

A lot of climbing up hill, even before entering the gate. But do climb all the stairs to the top, it's worth the effort.
Orava Castle is one of the most beautiful medieval castles in Slovakia. It's a large building complex and almost all rooms are accessible, so the tour (unfortunately in Slovak) takes several hours.
At the castle the outside scenes for the unofficial Dracula film "Nosferatu" from 1922 were filmed.
we stopped at the Orava castle on our drive from southern poland to budapest. what a great little gem to stop and see. mandatory that you take a tour, which went at a pretty good pace. the views from the stop are gorgeous and not too bad for someone who is afraid of heights!
we tried the restaurant on the grounds and it was very delicious and felt authentic. worth a stop.
We visited Podzamok for the day and this castle was our first stop. As the only English-speakers on the tour, we pretty much followed behind everyone else and looked at stuff in our own time. I loved the weapons, gallows and torture chamber, and the views from the top of the castle were amazing.
Very good tour guide who was very friendly and knowledgeable. The castle itself is fascinating and has a lot of history. Would definitely recommend. Additionally, try the local beer at the bottom of the climb to the castle!
